Just put one in layaway today..Excellent + LGS owner thinks only factory fired ..he sold the gun new in 2005...and the fellow swapped it in on a Glock..i really hadn't seen any S&W 66 in a while so I jumped on it.. 4 inch barrel ,paid a little much for it but., like I said haven't seen one in a while, especially in this condition.... always wished I'd bought a new one before they where discontinued ...and this is as close as I'll be able to get...I'll post pictures a little later in the week after I pick it up..

From one end of the spectrum to the other. I have a pristine 66 no dash going with me on a hog hunt on Friday evening, after Ruger and I bust a couple of coveys of Quail, I hope!
Congrats on the 66-6

Excellent gun..I'd take it over a 686 any day.
When you find goodies like that one does not let them get away.I'd a kept the gun and never sold it, but then I'm a bit prejudiced where excellent revolvers are considered.
Online gun auctions would be too prohibative.
Way to go!

You won't regret the 66 ever. I've got a 66 no dash and a 19-3, that my children will inherit someday.

I had a 66-5, TT, RR, 3", RB. Absolutely one of the most cosmetically appealing revolvers I've ever owned and one of the most maddening I've ever tried to get to work the way I wanted it to. I eventually traded it for a 1919 Colt Army Special in 32-20, and some boot of course, the Colt is a more desirable gun. I have never been able to get a S&W stainless gun to handle cast bullets well, my S&W blue guns are great but the ss suck lead and hang onto it like nothing I've ever seen. I have traded all my S&W stainless guns away except a Lew Horton 624 and I'm just starting to work with it.
Congrats on your 66-6...
In all my readings it is recommeded that you use 158 gr rounds... nothing less.
I have two SW 66 (i never can remember which dash they are), one is a 4" and one is a 2'' . They both have pachmyer stocks/grips. OF ALL my weapons they would be the last, if ever to go!

I will only practice with 38 Spl..and carry 357 Mag.....125 gr. and i hope I'll never have to fire 'em.... this gun will not be a woods gun.....I have a 10mm for that, a G20...
My first duty gun was a sw 66, but the four inch version... great weapon! We switched to glock 22's after that. You will like the 66 for sure!
