    Question S&W 22A .22lr pistol? - Getting a Neos, instead!

Do any of you have any experience with the S&W 22A pistol. I am considering buying one. It seems like a great pistol for the money. I am also considering the Ruger 22/45, and the Taurus PLY22.

Don't own a 22A but used the instructor's to qualify for CCW. Easy to shoot, easiest magazine to load that I've ever handled, magazine release is in an odd place (front of the grip).
I do own a 22/45 and love the way it handles -- best feeling .22 auto to me. Takedown is a little complicated, but overall it's an excellent, durable and accurate pistol. Magazines and holsters are easier to find for the 22/45 than the 22A, but the 22A is about $65-75 cheaper than the 22/45 around here.

The 22a looks like a nice gun. I've already got a Walther P22 and a Bersa .22 and am quite content shooting rimfires as often as I do. There's a lot of good choices out there for $250-300. The 22a's as good as any. Six of this, half-dozen of the other.

I have had a 22A for 4+ years now. I bought it very used and it has been a very good shooting gun. i also own a Model 41 and the 22A is as accurate, just doesn't have the ergonomics or trigger pull of the 41. Mine will feed almost any ammo is very easy to disassemble to clean.

The biggest flaws I have found are, absolutely no aftermarket support and to me it's kind of an ugly gun. Of course when it shoots lights out and only cost me $150 I can put up with ugly!

Here she is with the 41 and my wife's Mosquito.

Well folks, I went down to my LGS this morning and you will never guess what happened. I looked into the .22 case and saw the ones I had talked about. However, the dealer also told me that he had picked up a Beretta Neos on trade. I looked at the Browning Buckmark, Ruger 22/45, and S&W 22A, but none of them fit my hand like the Neos. It also had the best sight picture of the four. In addition, it was priced under $200. I will be picking it up on Tuesday! I will post pics, etc...

Trickeration! That's how you do it, get the gun before everyone jumps in saying why their favorite is superior.

Congrats. I'm looking forward to the photos and how it treats you.

Nothing wrong at all. In terms of ergos, it was definitely tops. So olfarhors, do you have any thoughts or advise for a Neos, Neos owner?

Is your Neos new or used, 6" barrel or 4" barrel?

I've got the 4" "blued" Neos and the Carbine Kit for it.

As far as tips from my experience, just shoot it and have fun. It will eat most ammo pretty easily. The trigger isn't target grade, but there is a trigger job tutorial on the web. A Neos fan called Hexidismal (not hexadecimal) has some good info out there about trigger work.

I've tried red dot sights on mine as a pistol and ended up leaving the red dot on the Carbine Kit barrel. For some reason I shoot the pistol no better with a red dot than with open sights. Perhaps with a 2x scope, I could do better with the Neos pistol but I bought it to be a plinker so no magnification for me.

The Neos is a beautiful and accurate .22......stick a cheap red dot atop the rail and dial it in!
