Long Awaited Pics Of My New Browning Buck Mark Camper

For all of you that helped out in my quest for a new 22 semi auto pistol in the thread ".22 LR auto...", I know I have owed you all some pics. So I finally got out and took some this weekend. I did add a new TacSol rail with built in rear sight.

I have plans to play around with a "cheap" holographic/red dot sight some day real soon so needed the rail at some point, not to mention the rail that comes on the camper is a plastic version and usually ends up cracking with multiple removals for cleaning etc. This new TacSol rail is aluminum so should last a lifetime.

So on to the pics. And if you have any experience with some cheap holographic sights that were good feel free to mention it...

Nice lookin' Buckmark! I like how the rail has the rear sight incorporated it.

Very nice looking pistol. I like the fact that the rail sits low on the barrel and that it has a bull barrel. One question? Where's the camper??

Cheap ones are a crap shoot. I've got a $30 BSA 30mm tube type red dot that is okay, but has parallax error depending on where you move your eye. I've seen some cheap tube type red dots and the open screen type that are only bright enough for indoor ranges. Although, I do have a discontinued Simmons 25mm tube type red dot with multiple reticles that is bright enough for outdoor use and has less parallax. Part of what helps outdoor use is the tinted green lenses which contrast the red dot with the outdoors. Plus a cross hair reticle is easier for my to pick up with my eye than some little dot.

I've heard good things about Primary Arms red dots, but have no experience myself. Primary Arms

This pistol is great and had one fail to eject on the first shot of the 3rd mag, which was the first shot my nephew took. This was right out of the box and with no initial cleaning, I know, bad form, but was already on the way to the range when we decided to stop to look and bought it. This was with Winchester HP bulk ammo from WallyWorld.

On the rail, one could save over half the money buying the one without the sight built in. But you would have to change the rail if you decided not to use the optics, and that would be a chore if/when the optics failed or something. Plus I wasn't sure how long I'd wait to purchase an optic for it. The original sight rail that came on the gun I had pretty much used up the whole windage adjustment trying to move the shot to the right. It will be interesting to see if this new sight is any different in it's accuracy as I still haven't sighted in the new rail.

BigSkiff I took some pictures with the camper too but with it in the pictures, the pistol just looks so small! It became a game of "Wheres The Pistol".

Chicharrones, I hadn't thought much about the tube type red-dots, just figured they were better as a rifle scope where you are already hunkered over with cheek on the butt and ligning up the shot, one-eyed type, but maybe that isn't the case... I was thinking along the lines of a $30-$40 open type one to just play with but am now thinking/looking closer to the $100 range. I'll get something figured out and make a decision.

Sparks9293, I would love to try out one of those Burris Fast Fires, but that's like about 4 or 5 steps in price above what the wife was warned about But she knows me and that when I start looking into something my original ideas tend to get upgraded several times before the purchase... might have to put it off a little longer and work her up to the idea slowly..
