    Smile Desert eagle 1911

I have been on the hunt for another 1911 and have seriously considered the PT1911 with bullhead grips. Springfields are not available, Kimbers are too expensive and so on. I accidently ran across the Desert Eagle 1911. I researched the desert eagle forum and googled it. I have not been able to find any complaints about it, other than the fact that the imprint on the slide is too large. The gun itself is very good looking and the quality is very similar to the Kimber (according to one that owns both) If any one has any comments please reply.

I think you'll find many negative comments at lots of the gun forums. When I was shopping around for my 24/7 pro cds .45, I ran into alot of that stuff about Taurus firearms. It came mostly from lovers of S&W, Glock and Springfield XD people. This did not stop me from my purchase.

Also, go to the CZ site and check out the CZ-97 bd and while there you will also find Dan Wesson 1911's.

I like it if you do also go ahead and buy it. The after market for 1911's is huge. Like any firearm it may have some bugs to work out. But hell that's half the fun working out the bugs. Doing custom upgrades to set your pistol apart from others to fit you and perform to your expectations.

That is exactly why I am looking at this particular gun. It would be unique in that not very many people out there are familiar with it. The thing that kinda bothers me is the weight, wounder why it is so heavy. Anyway I am very happy with my RI 1911 tactical tu-tone. And I will eventually get a Taurus 1911 and join the masses.

I just spotted the Magnum Research 1911 myself. I haven't seen one in person yet, but the price seems very reasonable if the hype is true, although I have to agree that the "billboard" on the side of the slide may be a bit much for my taste.

Other similar options and about the same price point that might be worth exploring are the STI Spartan and the new Ruger. I can't personally speak for the Spartan, but I like my Ruger.

There is a new gun shop in town and they have been selling the DE 1911. I thought they looked well made and recently got the chance to work on one and shoot it.

It was a full size gun and he wanted a set of night sights. They looked like Kimber sights so I tried the set of Meprolights off my Kimber and they fit great. He ordered a set and when I was installing them took the time to check out the insides. Everything looked very well made with no major machine marks and the bluing was very shiny not a parkerized finish.

Shooting was uneventful, no jams and very close to sights. I personally like the commander sized gun.
