Ugly as sin, but go bang every time. If it fills a need, I'd say go for it.
One of the local gun shops had an advertizement in the local shopper offering the High Point 9MM for $99.00 plus tax. I was somewhat tempted but resisted the urge.
I thought it might make a fairly decent knock about gun for working in the woods or running around on the ATV. What about it?

I have one (the 9mm Compact) and I like it. I've only been able to take it out once but on that outing I shot 70+ rounds thru it (all 155 grain fmj but 3-4 different brands) and never had a single malfunction. It is a bit heavy compared to a 709 Slim but I think it has less recoil.

Lot of good info on the High Points. Some very good pointers on break-in (of the pistol and of the magazines).
Plus for $99 if you don't like it I'm sure you could sell it and recoup most if not all of your initial cost.

I agree....Hi-points are ugly as sin. But I might consider it for that price, for the same reasons you are.

I bought one, I sold it for $100 because I needed the money to put toward an LCP. Sometimes I wish I still had it. It ate all ammo I put through it. Jammed maybe 1 out of every 100 rounds. Great plinker or "knock about gun" as you put it. They have a no questions asked warranty and good CS I've heard. If you don't mind the looks or the feel of the grip, I say go for it. I got a rubber grip sleeve for mine to improve the feel. It has some fairly sharp edges. I don't think you'll be disappointed. They take a pretty firm, high grip to make them function, but are accurate and pretty reliable once you get used to it.

I think the gun surprised these guys with how well it performed.

Forgot to mention that in my earlier post. The Hogue Handall 17000 fits the C9. I currently have one on mine but am going to also try a simple piece of bicycle inner tube and see which I like better.Originally Posted by Armed Pacifist

Hell I had one to, it never failed to jam on me. for 99 bucks go for it! If you don't like it you surely can sell it for that much. I had a card case and 3 extra mags with mine and when I sold my gun I got 200 bucks for it locally. Yes I sleep well at night, no I'm not guilty,I sold it to a local bike club to raffle of. They'll make money off it.

Questions.
Are the Hi-Points a double action only as say some sellers? Or, is it single action.
If S.A., do you trust it to carry in Condition One, or do you carry it Condition Three?

hell, for a hundred bucks, I'd go for it!

For that price go for it!! Buy two!!! HP's are great guns. I had a .380 and it never jammed and ate everything. And they fit your hand like it was made for it. Another plus is the lifetime warranty on the gun regardless how many owners it has. They will even send parts free.
They are DA only. 8 round mag.
