I got the Springfield XD Sub-Compact in .40 S&W and Olive Drab with 2 extra magazines and a holster for $500 out the door. I'm so excited. I told her I wouldn't buy a new gun for a whilel. This will be my CCW...

My wife is against every gun purchase I make. She says why do you need more then one? You can only shoot one at a time.

First off:

I almost got a Sig Sauer. The guy who I bought my gun from said, "I can get you a Sig P229 in .40S&W WITH the .357 SIG barrel for $650, brand new." While this is an astonishing deal, I had dedicated myself to $500. In order to get my wife to agree I had to stick around that range. I bought the Springfield. I don't regret it. I can't wait until it comes in.

Second:

Her sister is her polar opposite, sorry buddy. My wife, fortunately, understands that guns are my vice. She grew up in a gun-toting household and (like I've said in my other topics) her mom has become addicted. She understands. She also realizes that if I buy something like a new gun, then she has ammo (no pun intended) against me for something she wants. I don't care, I have my Springfield.

I would like to give a thanks to mp3mogul and the others I consulted regarding their opinions on the gun. Their first-hand experience really helped my decision. Hence why I will be sticking with this forum, and not really joining another.

Oh, and don't worry, when she arrives, I'll post pictures.

It sounds like you have a great wife . Out of the 3 guns I own, my wife only knows about one. I am trying to get her more into it but she has been really involved with our 17 year old with school and other stuff. Once he is off to college, I will be able to get her in to it a little better.

I bought a Rossi .38 special today at Academy after 'sorta telling' her that I was gonna do it. sorta... been

We've been bitten by the gun bug pretty heavily and have bought 6 guns since Thanksgiving of 2009.

Academy took a Rossi that is normally $240 and marked it to $200. Opened a credit card with Academy and got an instant $50 off purchase of $150 or more.

So.... I walked out of Academy with my first revolver at a smokin' hot deal.

Great thing about Texas, go buy a firearm and walk out with it 20 minutes later.

My wife was excited when I placed it in her hands.... said, " I can't wait to shoot this one." God, I love her.
