Someone talk me out of purchasing the M&P shield 45.

Looking for pros and cons of the shield 45 acp. Do not really need another 45acp. or S&W. But the rebate is making it very hard for me to not purchase it.
Would appreciate some input from someone that uses it for EDC.

I wish I could, but I just ordered mine from PSA - $224 after rebate. Couldn't pass up the amazing deal. To make it worse - the 45 version apparently has the newest mods to the platform. So will be getting shield v2.5 I think. Now just waiting for it to ship..

It's too small, doesn't carry enough rounds. The small size makes it difficult to control. The short barrel doesn't let the ammo develop full velocity. Don't like the selection of holsters available. Extra magazines are hard to find (although that sees like a silly argument to make to someone who owns a Taurus...).

OK, that's all I got right now.

Yup, get it! The price is great for the excellent Shield 45ACP. My PT145, 24/7 Pro C .45 and 24/7 G2C .45 are serving me well and I am in love with them still. If not, I would get the Shield 45 this time.

In 9mm I'd say go for it. Otherwise I think you should rent one at a range first. It's a recoiling little beast that doesn't weigh enough to dampen recoil for a second shot follow up.

I'd rather have something I could dump every shot in as fast as I could and stay on target. The only .45's I have that I can do that are my OSS, 1911's and a all steel Witness.

Honestly I just bought one! So I can't talk you out of one. IMHO it's a lot of firepower to have in a 45acp pocket pistol.

Even better if you reload, where you can tailor your loads with faster burning powder and lighter weight bullets.

I will test it out this weekend and get back to you. Mine set me back $262 out the door all costs included (shipping and transfer fee) after rebate. For a 7+1 45acp pistol only a hi-point is less expensive currently.

    Don't do it.
If you buy it the stock market will crash, the eastern seaboard will slide into the ocean,
the Yellowstone Caldera will let go and the eruption will completely remove the entire state of Wyoming,
aliens will invade Pittsburgh, although no one will notice it, and..........AND..........everyone will be required to watch all of Oprah's reruns.
    The choice is yours.

What kills me is folks come in here asking us to talk them out of buying a gun and everyone with at least 5 gray cells knows
they have absolutely no intention of NOT buying the gun.
Maybe it's like foreplay.......the exciting part before you actually have the gun home and can fondle it in private.
Hmmmmm...........maybe that part is just me............

Things do get interesting with a very light, short barreled pistol in a larger/powerful caliber.
I have a Officer Model 1911 with an alloy frame and its not for the faint of heart after a few rounds.
I think its around 25-26 ounces with an unloaded mag?
as mentioned already using a 175/185 grain projectile and the right powder helps.
even better use a all copper hollow point that has less recoil (less powder) and is efficient at around 650-700 FPS and I don't anticipate a lot of problems with stoppage of a bad guy.
    accuracy isn't to bad either.
