Yes... and the Mark III complicates it, with more parts in the same space. My friends tells me, the Mark II was a pain. But the Mark III is simply Armageddon (by comparison). I can't argue.

I also have a Standard Ruger Mark II and it's been a great pistol. DisAssembly and ReAssembly took some getting used to, but I seem to have gotten it down.

I will agree that the Mark III's are insane by comparison and don't care for them at all. I think Ruger should have left well enough alone instead of cluttering up the design. JMO

Yeah... these new things don't help gun designs. That indicator seems totally unnecessary. Especially, given the problems, it creates.

    Yeah, instead of the opposite.

I'm not knocking the Ruger but you could have bought a Browning Buckmark for the same money or less and not have to worry about jamming. We have four of them for teaching our classes. I clean them about every 500 rounds and even then they don't jam but the slides will fail to lock back on the last rounds if they get really dirty.

How's the Buckmark's accuracy compared to the Ruger. Equivalent? I actually have never heard of it.

There are several grades and configurations of the Buckmark depending on what you want and want to spend. All of ours are the field grade versions with the flat sided barrels and adjustable sights. Accuracy is excellent but I have also owned a few Ruger MK I's that were tackdrivers too.

I put a 2X, Red Dot sight on my first Buckmark and used it to hunt tree rats and I have taken out several rabbits and a few groundhogs with it.

They sound like the bar, for that sort of thing.

Re: Mark II or Mark III? Which Ruger?

I have often, and I will say again "often" fired 600 rounds or more at one time through my MarkII and my MarkIII and never had a single jam... no cleaning... just firing........... and they are tack-drivers. I usually set golfballs at 50 yards on my local range and I hit the golf balls 9 out of 10 times with either pistol...

My Mark III worked fine out of the box, no break in required. Every auto I've ever owned did the same (over a dozen)
