Very Interesting! Would have preferred the MKV lockwork, but it could still be nice.

$699 is the MSRP. Sure, that will be what they actually cost for a while, but that won't last forever. For comparison, the Ruger SP101 MSRP is $719. Yes, it's .357, but it's also five shot. And the .38 SP101 also has an MSRP of $719. The S&W model 60 has an MSRP of $729. A Ladysmith is $759.

I'd say they have this priced right where it should be; in fact, I'd say the MSRP says they want to be a serious contender, not just sell a few to collectors.

If the trigger on the Colt is nearly as good as they used to be, then that will make it more attractive than a Smith or Ruger. Not to mention that neither Smith or Ruger currently make a small frame 6 shooter in 38.

Kimber, Colt getting into the game...I for one love it.

Maybe S&W, Taurus, Ruger will produce some new models now.

I'd love to see the S&W night guard series get some new life or for someone to make an 8 shot .327 mag K frame size revolver.

Taurus is usually pretty good about reading trends etc - bring back the ultra lite 7 shot snubbies maybe? Or another run of the .327 snubbies?

Regardless, hopefully this is a sign of wheelie good things to come...

It sure is a handsome thing and I like that it has a little heft to it. Personally I see it as more of a belt gun than a pocket carry piece anyway. I expect they'll sell a ton of 'em to us Baby Boomers.

It is handsome! At 25 ounces it's no lightweight, but I do pocket carry my Taurus 651 and that is the same weight. As a comparison to a lightweight however the Ruger LCR in .38 spec. is just under 14 ounces.

Yea. Unless Taurus can actually stock an 817/617 & resque me, I'll likely take one home myself.

I've been seeing the 617 for sale on Bud's site on and off quite a bit lately. I bought one in November or December from them and was glad to get it, but I just looked and they are out again.
