    Taurus PT638?

    LGS has one; PT638 - asking $ 279.

I do not know much about this particular pistol. Do they still make this particular model? Worth the price?

I bought one for my wife. She loves it! Virtually no recoil which lets her focus on puttin the hits on paper. Is that used? They go for $329 around here new. Not discontinued, but they don't sell it here in the US anymore.

Brand new. I think it's been sitting there for a few months atleast. I think they've had them as low as 259. There is not much in terms of reviews/videos for this model - so I was a little skeptical. Any known issues to watch out for? How is the after-sales-support from Taurus, in case anything breaks?

My permit should be here this week; and if it is all good - am going to go pick one up.

Sounds like a pretty good deal! They usually run the same problems as most MilPros. They need their break-in just like the rest. If you run into any issues, Taurus will make it right.

That is next on my wish list.Sounds like a pretty good price even if you have to go $279.

I love mine. I believe it is discontinued though, at least in the U.S. It's popular overseas in places where civilians can't have "military" calibers. If you buy it try to get some extra mags now, they'll disappear someday. I got some from Taurus.

    Seriously.......................

I paid about $50 more than that for mine, that's a good price.

That's a good price, but this model has been discontinued.

Since the 9mm Taurus PT111 is the same size and weight and packs 12+1 rounds the only advantage I seen in buying a PT638 is if the buyer is "very recoil senstive" (though the PT111 is pretty mild mannered).

I do have weak wrists + carpal tunnel starting.

Still waiting on that permit. Hopefully this week!

    One more question:

Do they have different generations on this? Is there a particular style with the Glock Style trigger safety? Google search shows 2 different trigger styles.

Not as far as I know. I've only ever seen them with the trigger safety. I looked and saw some pictures without it also, but some where on overseas sites, so maybe the non-U.S. version doesn't have it and somebody just used that picture on their site here.
