    PT111 to the range

I began my search for defensive ammo the PT111 would like and I started with Hornady's Critical Defense with the fancy dancy FTX bullets. Every other round was a FTF. So I stripped the gun and cleaned it. Almost three months later I make it back to the range and much to my happiness the Mil Pro feeds and eats the Hornady as well as another brand of HPs like a champ.

What other factory-made defensive ammo PT111 owners can vouch for?

You don't sound like you're running a bunch of rounds through it - I would recommend doing so. Just inexpensive WWB or some other brand, then finish off your range session with the good stuff you're trying out. This will get your round count up and make you more confident that the gun is solid.

With the short barrel, probably a higher velocity round, maybe even a +P, would work good so that you get expansion. Truth be told, you'll probably get expansion anyway with the good hollowpoint designs they make now, but you play every card in the deck, right?

Thanks for the replies, guys. I foul up my gun before and after with bulk FMJ each trip to the range.
I've haven't stacked my mags with alternating loads, yet. In a defensive situation I wouldn't have mags with assorted ammo in them.

Both my PT111'S feed any factory ammo you put in their magazines.

So I end up carrying whatever premium JHP's are on sale.

Self defense is Remington golden saber 147 grains hollow point. Plinking is also bulk Remington UMC`s and nary foul-up- bleep - hiccup-blunder. I should probably quit while I`m ahead I can not say enough good things about my MILPRO 9mm... Federal Ammo theres a bashing I wont open...

I usually run Blazer or WWB FMJ's through mine on a regular basis. The only JHP's I've ran through it were Winchester Defenders and Hornaday CD. It cycles both of those fine. Hornaday CD is my EDC.

Javagonzo, I know it may be to early to tell but have you decided on the ammo you will carry - are you leaning in a particular direction? If so, what is it.
