PT709 GONE! PT111 in the house!

Sold my PT709 on Friday to a gentleman for $250 with two mags. I had to have a PT111; my wife carries one with Williams Fire Sights and I love the pistol. The trigger on the PT111 is GREAT compared to other semi-autos in the same class regardless of price. My wife didn't like the Heinie sights and we changed those out for day-glow Williams Fire Sights and she LOVES them. Anyway, I bought a PT111 today from a guy who is fairly local (Kerrville) for just a shade more than I sold the PT709. The pistol came with 2 mags and is 3rd gen. I stopped at the Wallys in Kerrviille and bought two hundred rounds of Fed econo and some ear plugs and drove over to Bandera Gun Club where I am a member. The range was deserted as they are having a festival down at the river... anyway, since it was hot, I only put 100 rounds down the pipe without cleaning the pistol (it is dirty) and they cycled flawlessly. In a flash of inspiration, I caused myself to ignore the two stuipid Heinie dots and just centered /leveled the front sight post between the two rear and I was able to shoot very accurately; just like with my wife's pistol. The rear sight is slightly off center and the gun groups just to the left of point of aim but I didn't have an allen key to move/adjust and it was only about 3" off point of aim at 15 ft so zero can wait till next time out at the range. Anyway, I am a happy camper as I feel the PT111 may be the BEST ccw/compact 9mm on the PLANET bar none and I have tried most of them. BTW: I you check prices on gunbroker.com and other auction sites, you will note that 90 percent of the auction starting prices are close to or over MSRP and you can just go to buds or davidsons and buy the same pistol much cheaper than by auction unless you are very careful; especially with some sellers wanting $40 to ship plus FFL fees.

Congrats on your PT 111 Pro! One can't go wrong with it. Mine is a very accurate piece but came with the factory 3-dot sight configuration. I just ignore the rear dots and concentrate on the front sight post for accuracy, always keeping in mind that point of impact is covered by the front dot. The top of the front sight needs to be level with the tops of the rear ones to get the bullet to hit whatever is behind the front dot.

Happy shooting and stay safe! And plus one on the PT 111 Pro probably being the best 9mm CC pistol out there.

A PT111 is what first put the hook in my mouth for Taurus handguns. Then I out-shot my CZ75 with a 24/7 in 40 S&W and the hook was set. I picked up a PT145, and I just love that pistol. It's accurate, reliable, ergonomic, easily concealable, and holds lots of ammo. IMHO, you can't go wrong with a milpro.

Glad you are happy with your PT-111, but I will not get rid of my PT-709.

The PT111 Mil Pro should serve you well.

    Congrats on the pick.

I've got both the PT111 and 709. No problem firing either but what works for one may not work for another person. Good choice.

Can`t get over my fist day at the range with my 111. Factory hiene 8 sights straight out of box if the range master called and I could see it I hit it. Range master kept talkin about a warm feeling running down the back of his legs. RM stated I was his first he had heard other RMs talk about guys with pistols out of the box so good they seem to have been made for each other...I traded a 380 for my 111 and as of today you can`t give me enough for that 111
