Another First trip to the range with the 145

My first post to this site. I've been lurking here for some time now, waiting to say anything until the day I had something worthwhile to say. I'll begin now: THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU THAT HAVE SHARED YOUR EXPERIENCES WITH YOUR PT-145'S. You helped me greatly in my decision to throw down those dead presidents and join your group. I bought a SS PT-145 last weekend and shoved 200 rounds of 230gr round nose handloads through it today with zero problems. Well, the truth be known, I should have brought another couple hundred rounds with me. The grip was not the problem I anticipated; I won't be filing those edges. I'm still struggling to figure out how they get 10 rounds inside a grip that fits my relatively small hand. Dadgumfrig! To put this in perspective, I'm comparing the PT-145 to my Sig Sauer P220 Compact. It's still my "Fav" but the Taurus has made a giant impression on me. It fits nicely in my Smart Carry along with that extra 10-round mag and will be riding there after a while. Being a 45ACP, there is pretty much no snap to it, as a 45 shoves or pushes instead. I shoot one-hand only; it was not a problem with the PT-145.

    Welcome to the site!

Glad you like your PT145. Mine's SS as well and the best CC gun I've owned.

Re: Another First trip to the range with the 145

Today was my 3rd trip to the range. I fired 200 rounds on each of the first 2 trips. Today I only took 150 rounds because these were new loads. I left the firearm dirty on purpose to see what problems might crop up. (That second trip was this last Tuesday.) And I also had the 2 Taurus mags that came in the mail Wednesday from Wholesalehunter.com. (I was a trifle worried because after I ordered them I worried that they might not be Taurus brand. They were.) I use an Uplula loader which expedites loading big time. Long story short: No Ghosts in the Machine! I'm really pleased with this and am now comfortable "carrying" it. And it is small enough to carry in the inside pocket of some of my cargo pants/shorts. I'm gonna have to see if DeSantis makes a pocket holster in a size that will fit it, like the one I use with my NAA Guardian 380. I am really pleased with the PT-145. It's gonna get a wash, wax, lube and oil change now. Thanks again to all of you that helped me decide on a Taurus PT-145. All that lurkin' paid off.

i'm perfectly happy with the remington UMC 230 JHPs. even at todays prices, i'm getting them for less than $30 a 100 at walmart.

    I forgot to mention: I reload 230gr RN rounds for $9.25 per 50. It's a hobby. 380's too.
After I commented about looking into a Nemesis for the PT-145, I did just that. And low and behold - Nemesis does indeed make a pocket holster for the PT-145! I ordered it last night. $30.50 shipped from DeSantis. I'm sure I could have found it cheaper but it was late and I was tired. Ah, such is life.
