No affiliation with these guys, www.ajcsportshop.com, from Clute, Texas. They must have been at one of our local guns shows (gun shows seems to be like every other weekend around here) back on April 18th.
Now quit talkin' about it and go get one dangit! Goodnight!

Is that just holster wear? There are lots of DIY options out there for refinishing, but my research led me to Ceracoat as the best option. I wish I could report how it is IRL, but it's been 4 months since I sent stuff off. My recommendation would be to find someone local if possible and get a firm commitment on time line.Originally Posted by lowdown
4 months?...Why didn't you do it yourself? If i'm sending something off for refinishing it won't be something I can do myself in an hour or so.
Our Government is borrowing money to pay interest on money they have already borrowed. What would you tell your kids, if they were doing that?
Lowdown, if you have access to an oven you can use then I would go with Ceracote, Brownells Teflon/Moly, or one of the other oven cure non-paint finishes. If no oven, then Duracoat is your best bet.

I don't have the hardware to do it myself(paint gun, blasting cabinet, etc), plus anything I have tried to paint in the past comes out like crap. It was a good deal at the time... Lesson learned.Originally Posted by GreenWolf70
thanks for the ideas guys...i like the Ceracote
gotta look into that
yes this is just wear from in and out of my holster or waistline
I used Brownells Teflon/Moly on a chute knife I made for my oldest son and the finish has held up very well. If fact its with him in Afghanistan now. If comes in a spray can so its really just prep the slide, spray it and cure it in an oven. Some people believe you need to bead blast the metal to prep it, but since you have a blued slide, Lauer (Duracoat people) has a Park solution that will quickly and cheaply prep the metal for the best adherence of any bake on finish you chose to use.

Hard to tell from the picture, but if there's any rust on the slide, you need to get down to bare metal before applying the coating, otherwise the DIY route would be much more economical and quicker.
