I am getting used to them, not my favorite. I'll trade you for a set of 3 dots!

I have straight 8 on one gun and standard 3 dot on two guns. Personally I find the Heine sights faster to acquire a target with once I got used to them. Now they are simply second nature to me and give them little though when using them.

I have straight eights on my PT145 and on my 24/7 Pro. I just like the 3 dots better.

I have them on my PT1911 and my PT145. I have always liked them because they are so fast to aquire. I only wish I could find a set of Heinie Straight Eights in a Night-Site.

I like 'em. I shoot just as well with either. Actually, I don't pay any attention to the dots on either sight system.

Re: Anyone else like the straight eights?

I have no problem with them. I treat them just like any other sights I have on my non-match guns.

I ignore the dots, align the top of the front sight and the top of the rear sight and place that junction in the middle of my target (Center of Mass). Works like a charm.

I think the majority of the people having problems forget (or were never taught) that all dots are in an alignment aid; they are NOT the actual sights. Once shooters learn that, the problems seem to disappear.

I often wonder how many people buy FireSights and other after-market sights and continue to have problems, but aren't honest enough to admit it. I can see the Tritium sights for after dark use, but not all the plastic tubes, etc. I'll get excited about these kind of sights for my carry guns when police departments, SWAT teams and such start using them as standard equipment.
