I put Chevy brake parts in my Ford and they didn't work. So i redesigned the Ford to accept the Chevy brake parts and sometimes they work while other times they do not; I trust my life to the altered Ford brake system.

I should have JB Welded the Ford parts but figured duct-tape would do equally as well. Neither manufacturer can be trusted to provide reliable information about their own products - so I gave up on them and now jury-rig everything I own to suit my standards.

Functioning 60% of the time is good enough; I go more than I stop, so who needs reliability in brakes?

I apply the same philosophy to my firearms.

I would do so with my life support systems as well, but somehow managed to contact the manufacturer and find that well worded questions and patience resulted in me receiving the latest release parts and mysteriously -- they function quite well!.

I was shocked to find that the manufacturer did not use any JB Weld OR Duct-tape!

Cool thanks for the info. but inthat aspect my problem was not with the pt 145 which i dearly love and shoot ALOT. I had problems with the pt 140 magz. Popped out every time I fired it. Got it fixed and is flawless. Although I cannot shoot it as accuratley as my .45 The pt 145 I'm very accurate......very.....very.......accurate up to 30 yrds.

I just bought 3 mags from Cabela's for my pt145 and they're "B" mags.Haven't had 'em to the range yet,but they're smooth as butter compared to the 2 that came with it(one of the original mags looks like the back drew in when they welded it). If they don't work well, gonna try a Para follower and see what happens.
Magazine capacity NEVER trumps shot placement

I bought my Pt145 about 6 years ago, I have about 2000 rounds thru it and have had numerous issues with FTF and nose diving with the factory mags. I purchased two Pro Mag magazines and they would not feed at all, I noticed the hole for the mag catch is positioned slightly higher causing the mag not to insert high enough into the gun. I ordered them thru Midway USA, the first two were black steel, I contacted Pro Mag who then had Midway send me two Stainless mags. The stainless were the same way mag catch hole slightly to high. I have also noticed that with the factory mags where the mag meets the base of the grip, the gap has gotten bigger. Meaning the mag has dropped slightly which cause the rounds to FTF or nose dive into the feed ramp.

Also when having the factory mags loaded all the time, if I take the mag out of the gun the rounds are loose in the mag. They will drop out of the mag as I take the mag out of the gun. I have one original and one new mag and they both have problems, one I can not trust at all and one I can trust if I keep upward pressure on the mag when firing. I have owned two Taurus firearms and have had issues with both, only Taurus was able to fix my other one, 1911 45acp (safety started to come out of the gun). They replaced the whole gun and never had anymore issues with it. I hate that the mags I can find are 45 bucks, and not even sure they will function properly.

    Any inprovements?

Haven't been on here in quite a while. I bought my Mil Pro Pt145 in 2009 to use as my CCW, but ended up throwing in in the gun safe and forgetting about it because is was so bad. Thus, I also forgot about visiting this site. Had FTF problems constantly. Went through the mag replacement thing with no improvement at all. With mine, it seems to feed FMJ ok, most of the time but will never feed any kind of HP ammo. It nose dives and the round hangs up on the feed ramp. In visiting the site today, it appears that Taurus has not addressed, or, been able to correct this problem in the last two years. Has anyone had really good luck with this gun, or with Taurus fixing the problems? Just wondering. I really like the idea of this gun, size, weight, etc. but, the poor functioning eliminates it for me as a carry gun. By the way, in case any haven't heard. Springfield just released thier .45 XDS at the shot show. A subcompact .45. As soon as it hits the shelves, I'll be giving it a hard look. If it turns out to be as good as thier other XD models, it'll put the PT145 outa business, unless Taurus gets serious about the fix. Hope to hear from the rest of you guys about your luck.

I have a PT140 maned. in 2011. The mags have followers in bright orange. I havent looked closely enough to know if its A or B design. I do however have a question. I have noticed that my mags just do not want to hold the 10 rounds that are said to fit. It gets to 9 and then you have to really fight the 10th round in. After cycling the mag about 20 times, the 10th round became a little easier to insert, but if your hands are the slightest bit sweaty, its still a major PITA. Would shortening the spring make this easier yet still leave enough tension for the mag to work reliably? I also noticed that the mag will really spit the rounds out into your hand with 6 round or less in it, but any more than that, its the force of your fingers that really gets the job done. Im thinking a lot of the FTF problems one may have with this gun would be due to the mag and the narrow width of the feed ramp.

    Hey Guys,
I was in the market for a new 45 and was REALLY considering the Millenium PT145......

    UNTIL

I found all these trouble postings.

Of all the 45's I handled, I thought the PT 145 Millenium was the perfect choice.
Had it not been for this forum and finding all this information (especially the horrible Customer Service)
I would have gone ahead and purchased the PT145.

    Thanks for the save !

The guys at the local gun store suggest a Bersa or Kimber instead.

I do own a PT99 AF that I bought New in 1992 so I'm still a long time Taurus owner.
That one hasn't given me any problems.
