    .40 cal to 9mm Conversion?

Anyone ever do a conversion of their PT140 Mil PRO .40 cal to 9mm? I have a friend that has a Sig P239 in .40 cal. He has two other barrels for the gun, a 9mm and .357 Sig. Its like having 3 guns in one. he said the only thing he changes is the barrel, even uses the same magazine.
Can this be done to the PT140? I am not interested in .357 Sig, but being able to shoot 9mm with the same gun is attactive.

36 views and no replies?? Guess no one is interested? I did find out yesterday that this type of conversion can be done on a Glock model 23 with is .40 cal.

Well, I'm just guessing here, but I doubt the PT140 grip and slide would accomodate the 9mm barrel and magazines. That's just for obvious starters, and there are probably more reasons. Maybe owning one of each is a good option. Caliber change would be much quicker that way. Even quicker than the Glock change!

Marty, perhaps the reason you are getting no replies is it hasn't been done, or no one has had the inclination to try doing so. This is a topic i've never seen discussed in here. As inexpensive as the PT 111 and 140's are $319 at Academy, there isn't a lot of reason to do so even if it were possible, which I seriously doubt it is. I doubt it is lack of interest on 39 viewers as much as it is no one ever looking into the situation or the question being asked and discussed before. If you find the answer, let us know.

Re: .40 cal to 9mm Conversion?

Read a post (I think on here) guy way cleaning his PT-145 and his wife's PT-111 and accidently put the wrong slide no the wrong frame and jammed it up. I seriously doubt that the parts can be interchanged and by the time you bought parts to change calibers, you would had paid for a new one.

I think the only definitive answer your going to get is from Taurus. Just call CS.

Re: .40 cal to 9mm Conversion?

Lots of conversion barrels for Glocks, none for Taurus and probably never will be(PT92/100 are the exception). Volumne isn't high enough and production run not long enough.

If you could get a barrel for $120(I doubt Taurus will sell you one), maybe need a lighter recoil spring $10, a couple mags $70(40 mags might work) and rolling the dice that it might work or just buy a PT111MP and have a 2 complete guns.

The reason it works for Glock is that an additional gun cost $550, several manufacturers make 9mm conversion barrels for 40's, 10mm barrels for 45's, mags for $15. So 1/5 the cost of a new Glock I can shoot 9mm thru my 40.

And most important I think they(Glock) have better quality control in manufacturing to have 100% interchangeable parts, I'm not conviced Taurus does(pretty sure they don't).

What you and others have said makes sense, especially about the cost aspect. Because it would appear that Taurus would be the only place to get barrels and that would probably be cost prohibitive.
    Thanks for the reply.

Just got back from Bass Pro. saw a Sig .22 cal conversion for the P220 and about 4 others. That sure would be a sweet option for the Taurus auto's.

Those Sigs are quite tempting. Unfortunately, the last time I looked, the conversions kits were almost as much as a pretty nice .22 pistol. (Certainly comparable to a Walther P22, Sig Mosquito, etc.)

But, I'd certainly be interested if someone came up with conversions for 24/7 or Mill Pros. And, my wife would absolutely flip if there were a conversion for the PT111, though.
