All other things being equal, which ammo will perform more reliably in the PT145 - 185 grain or 230 grain? Why?

I have not found anything unreliable in my PT 145

With all being said, there are alot of reports coming from different agencies. I will tell you the reports I have read the 230 has proven more internal shock damage then the 180. With that said, I dont know a human who can take a 180 gr bullet center mass at 10' and walk away. Reliability is with in the holder of the gun. If its stopping power you seek, being hit with larger round will cause more trauma. Just .02

I'm not so concerned with stopping power, as I believe that a .45 of any weight will get the job done. I'm talking about reliable operation of the weapon. Some people claim that the PT145 seems to prefer 185 grain over 230 grain and vice versa. I'm just wondering if anyone has noticed a difference in terms of reliability between these 2 weights.

I've shot both, considerably more 230 grain than 185. All have been flawless.

Yeah, my PT145 likes everything. Even 200gr. lead reloads I roll myself. Thats not to say that there aren't pistols out there that function better with a particular round though. If you have one of those, find the round it likes best and feed it a steady diet of that one.

Well since I have tried about them all, I think I will stay with the SB Goldots 230 grain. I think my second choice which are the 230 HST's, also an awesome round for self defense.

I find the 230 grn both in FMJ and JHP shoot closer to POI and do a great job so I stick with them. I don't use +P I've tride it but I don't see the reason for it.

I've found 230 wwb do a good job and at half the price. Other then that I use Golden sabers as I do in my 9mm.

+1. EVERYTHING I put through my PT145 has fed, fired, and ejected.

Another vote for 230 grain ammo.
