    First Timer!

    howdy!

proud owner of a brand new 617 revolver! went straight to the range after picking her up today. put about 100 rounds through her. loved it!

the range official asked me if he could fire a round. i let him. he put one shot right in the X, placed the revolver down and said, "nice gun."

but i already have two questions.

a couple of times, it seemed to misfire. at least i think that's what it was. i thought i was finished shooting, but when i went to empty the spent shells, there would be one live round still in the revolver? this happened a couple of times.

second, a couple bullets didn't "slide" right in. it was actually a bit tight to go in and i needed to put a pressure to get it in.

was it because i didn't clean it before i went to the range?
or was it the ammo? i used winchester 130gr. 38 special ammo in the white box.

    thanks.

Welcome to TaurusArmed, and congratulations on your new revolver.

On the misfires - I presume that you actually dropped the hammer on the round that didn't go off?

Don't know what to tell you about the rounds not sliding in easily - Your ammo shouldn't be that far out of spec. I presume the chambers were fairly clean?

Ok, Not sure about the tight part loading rds. I hope you did a good cleaning to get the shipping grease out of the cylinders (that could be a problem). If your no fires did not have a mark, you either lost count, or the transfer bar and hammer are not getting together with the firing pin. (again a good cleaning might help too with this) or it might not.

If I had 7 rds I might miss count myself, anything over 6 confuses me.

Np, I have 2 Taurus revolvers, and a Rossi 357 too. I know if my Rossi is dirty it will drag on the forcing cone (yeah the clearance is that tight). My hopes are a good cleaning and few more rds and you will be ready to rock and roll.
