Hi!
I'm Chuck, and I live south of Houston.
I've been shooting pistols for quite a long time.
Some time ago, about four years or so, I purchased a PT1911 Two Tone in 45 ACP.
I purchased this particular 1911 because of the price. That was my main drive. I had read many good reviews on the pistol before hand.
Shortly after buying it, I attended a combat pistol class. Approximately 80% of the people in this class were shooting Glocks. Don't get me wrong, I like the Glock. I own several. However, the ribbing I received even before the hammer fell on the class was incredible. It was all in good fun, though.
Our class was being held in an area of the range where there was quite a bit of fine silt where we were to be shooting. I have to admit that I was nervous. The tolerances on the 1911 are quite a bit tighter than most other pistols. After our first string of fire, I fetched my mags and started loading them again. I could hear and feel the grit inside the mags as I loaded them. It was just as bad as I charged the pistol. I was worried that the instructors were really going to have a field day when (not if) this pistol failed to function.
One thousand rounds and two days later, this pistol NEVER missed a beat. Not once. Every time I pulled the trigger she went BANG. It was incredibly accurate (and still is). Since then, I have carried this pistol and I have used it in IDPA matches. This past year I have focused solely on my Glock 34, and I have won several matches with that wonderful little sidearm. However, beginning this month, I will focus my attention on the Taurus PT1911.
I've only done two things to her so far. One was the addition of a nice magwell. This makes loading so much easier and much more consistent. I have also toyed with the trigger just a little, lightening the trigger pull somewhat.
I am looking forward to participating in this Forum, and I am also looking forward to learning more about my Taurus 1911.
Thanks for having me!

Welcome from Kansas
Thank you, to all who serve; past, present and future. It is people, like you, who are willing to serve that have made this a great nation. I pray for your safety, your family, and the leaders that make decisions that affect you. I will always pray for and respect the office of the President of the United States, I don't have to like the person elected. Until he comes, or calls me home, here by the power of Christ I'll stand.

Wait, let me take that back... not always...
