Welcome from Central IL! I haven't seen any of your post yet, I've been busy these days, but I can assure you that whatever you felt was snobbery was unintentional. Everyone here is nice and easy to talk to. The rudeness you find on other sites is not tolerated here. If fact, it's so laid back here that I feel like you are all my family. When your hurting, I'm hurting. So please, give it a chance and try not to read into things.

The problems we face today are there because the people who work for a living are out numbered by the people that vote for a living

Also as one of the Mods I hope we don't ever let a beginner get hammered. Thats the one thing I like about this place is that the really good Guys and Gals are vary willing to help out a newbie. There might be some humor in their responses but it is in fun or we would not allow it.

Good points there.
I learned to shoot/reload/hunt before the internet and I’m glad.
Jumping on the forums may seem like a great idea, (especially to new folks) for gathering information but in reality it is MOST TIMES probably the worst place to learn. Way too much misinformation mixed in with SOME knowledge.
“You must do this!” “No, no, you cannot do that.” So much conflicting information. How is anyone supposed to know what is what, especially new people?
People say there are no dumb questions, but there surely are and just as many or more dumb answers. Some people jump in with a question and do not have enough info to even ask a question so others can even begin to know what they are referring to.
I answer some questions but at others I just want to scream, not at just the question but the answers. I know some feel the same at some of my posts. Thank BG for the X at the top right of my screen!
Having said that, most people should read a lot of different sources. If possible find a mentor, preferably someone you can see face to face. Especially you new reloaders. Buy a couple of manuals before you buy anything else!! I am in Reidsville, NC and if you are close enough I'll be glad to help in any way I can. I probably won't invite you to my house but I might meet you some place convenient to me for some FTF help.
The forums should be way down the list of places you go to get answer if you do not already have the basics down, or at least read the stickys (ies-whatever they are) at the top of most sections before asking a lot of uninformed questions. We really do want to help. When someone asks “which 1911 style will be best for me?” answering, “get a Glock!“ is not helpful.
Having said all that, remember that some of us do actually know some things. Try not to jump in and say something is wrong until you have actually tried it and see that it is. We don’t expect everyone to agree with us every time but unless you know for a fact we’re wrong, think before you blast off. There is usually more than one correct answer.
I’ve even learned a few things on the forums, such as, FMJ=worn out bbls.
Don’t get me wrong, I love the forums, especially this one. Seems that a lot of new shooters, gun owners and reloaders buy Taurus firearms and they have a lot of questions and opinions. Some of you wouldn’t care for some of the things I say out loud while reading your posts and others might agree with one of us, but to me it is all in fun.
Just do not take anything I say as the gospel. Always verify my posts. If I ever say anything that rips you, I honestly didn’t mean to, well maybe a little but what I mostly try to do is get people to think.
I have no idea why I even posted this except I was bored. I swear I haven’t been drinking, today.
You guys have fun and I’ll stick around and try to help out when I can. I may even have a question from time to time.
Doggone!!! This had to show up right after a Superman.![]()

My posts are things I have tried or experienced. You may or may not wish to emulate them so read them with this in mind.
Compromise means both sides give something, but they never give, they just take.

Sometimes I don't comment on at thread because:
- I don't understand the question
B. It's been beaten to death on the site before, and a quick check with the search function will provide plenty of info (although I'll generally suggest using the search function).
c. Someone else has beaten me to the answer.
4. I just don't know.
It's not really a question, more of a hostile challenge.
Last: I don't have time to give a proper answer.
But I gotta say, this is one of the most open, receptive, and downright civil forums I've been on. It's more like sittin' on a porch sippin' a cool one and kicking ideas around than a 'forum'.

Joe, could you post a link to a thread that made you feel unwelcome? Since I, for one, have almost always felt welcome here - certainly more welcome than on other fora - I would like to see the problem for myself.
Thanks.

Joe S, don't recall whether or not I caught your first post so I'll just say...
