You should be able to find a Taurus pistol or revolver to fit your need and style. Yes there are more expensive guns on the market, but Taurus generally preforms just as well and are less expensive. You can use the money you save to buy ammo to shoot doing what you bought a firearm for.
The Government is not the cure, it is the disease!
Hello from Missouri! If you're new to handguns, a revolver might be best to start with, IMO...they're easier to clean and maintain.
"The most dangerous man, to any government, is the man who is able to think things out for himself. Almost inevitably, he comes to the conclusion that the government he lives under is dishonest, insane and intolerable."...H.L. Mencken

'I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs.' Thomas Jefferson
