    Tomatoes

I got the first tomatoes picked today, the tag on the carton said Big Boys! Well if these are Big Boys I would hate to see Tommy Toes. I think I will go back and ask in what country would these be considered Big? Well I guess it will keep the neighbors out of them, since they won't be able to see them. I will have to use 2-3 per sandwich.

My tomatoes have been very poor now 2 years in a row. The little cherry tomatoes seem to do okay, but the Big Boys, Better Boys, Atkinson's, seem to produce very little and die early. I guess I have lost my green thumb?........or perhaps misplaced it!.

Same here but I'm starting to get a few now. MY vines are in great shape but the yeild has been slow coming and very slow to ripen. I believe the extreme heat has a lot to do with it even though I water every other day and feed once every 10 days.

Yes........Tomatoes should last through June here around Mobile, few will thrive after that. Too hot. They are usually done in July. Its really late for tomatoes now. Its about the time to prepare for fall tomatoes.

Here in North Texas, when the temperature nears 95degrees, the blooms won't set fruit. I've had the same problem for the last three years. Next year I'm going with container grown plants, where I have better control over the elements.

Our tomatoes are only about the diameter of a quarter now.
Definitely not a great year for tomatoes in the Pacific Northwest.
    Aim small.

Honey Bees have been scarce around here for a couple of years now but this year it seem they may be coming back.

Pollinate them yourself by using a tiny fine point model paint brush. Just start on one side and gently brush each flower in a row arond each plant, then repeat the next day in a different order. That should do it for you. Most years I do not get any bees, last year I did not plant because of it and I had bees everywhere. This year is looking good as well. I start my plants in mid Sept. as summers are just to hot for them.

I love tomatoes!! On a sandwich, in a stew or sauce. I'll be planting seeds in a few weeks for the fall season.
