In S. FL they take 18 to 24 months to fruit the 1st time, after that maybe every 12 months. If it does fruit don't be tempted to pick it early it will almost fall off when ready.

Very cool! Tell me brojohn, what kind of soil did you use? Was it regular potting soil, or something specially prepared?
This inquiring mind would like to know. I've been buying pineapples from Sam's club all summer; & I've been making some
really good pina coladas with them!

Oh, & another question: how big was the pot??

    UPDATE:

    I used composted manure...like $1.50 a bag from Lowes.
I started it in a small pot-less that 1 gallon. This spring I transfered to to a real large pot- maybe 12 gallon.

It looks like my purple flower has turned into a real pineapple-

edit: notice my "Taurus" in the background?

Pineapples take A LONG time to get the initial propagation...they grew them by the thousands where i was raised and a new field would look barron for quite some time (up to 7 years for full yield).
