Was it truly a 100 round drum or is that just fuel for a new magazine capacity ban?

My question is why they have been saying that his AR15 jammed up due to a defective 100 Round Drum Mag and that he left the theater right after the jam. They are saying that perhaps the jam saved many lives.

If the last mag he put in the weapon was a 100 round drum, why does the picture of his firearm laying by the theater door show a standard 30 round mag?

Regardless of what magazine he had, this should be a lesson to all of us - practice clearing jams.

The magazine was found inside the theater is the report I read - speculation he dropped when it jammed.

Possibly had a double feed. Dropped the drum in an attempt to clear it and put the 30 round mag in the rifle with the double feed stuck in the receiver. Prolly dropped the weapon right there when that attempt to clear didn't work.

I'll stick with center mass. Stress is difficult to deal with, and center mass shots are more likely to hit.
And the reports of body armor seem to be as accurate as reporting the use of an assault rifle. A vest with pockets for magazines has morphed into armor.

If the press is good for one thing, it's to guess at what the facts are, and then get their pretty mugs in front of a camera so they can sound concerned, knowledgeable and smart - when in fact all they are really concerned about is self-advertisement. Freedom of the Press has become Freedom to Seek a Pulitzer and a Big Raise. I haven't seen any recent event which hasn't been hyped by the press to the hilt for the sake of ratings and creating hysteria. The truth? It's the first casualty of news reporting these days.

If at all possible, that practice head needs to be moving. Not to mention you need to be moving when you shoot. Why give someone a stationary target :-) Have fun!!!

The incident has made me think about carrying my PT-99 more. I shoot it best of all the pistols I have. The 5" barrel with the longer sight radius is one of the reasons I am better with it, I think.

Draw backs are it is heavier and larger, but with my tuckable IWB Old Faithful holster, I can conceal it pretty well with a untucked shirt or a t-shirt covered with an unbuttoned untucked shirt.

Besides the head shots you may want to practice leg/knee/groin shots. They are a lot harder to make than you think and you may need the skill, you know, in the Zombie Apocalypse, so they don't run faster than you.
