You won't go wrong considering TEXAS. As for the recommendation for Arlington, I could not disagree more. It's sandwiched between Ft Worth ( a wanna be big city) and Dallas (high crime and corrupt city government, and liberal). Go West or deep South for the TEXAS flavor. Also !!! - TEXAS is always written in upper case letters - that's why all keyboards have that provision. Spend a little time here, you'll understand why we kind of like it.

TEXAS west of Fort Worth is a great place! Yes, it is a bit more humid, but the people are great and as conservative as the day is long! We don't have much use for the Federal Gov and Perry has told them to pound sand on many occasions. If he can't get help on the Mexican Border, he sends some Texas Rangers (who have worked the border since the day of the Republic). Yes, we don't have open carry, but the CHL is a permanent NICS license, meaning you can go into gun store, plunk it down, fill out the paper work and walk out with your new purchase. I do love AZ but TEXAS is a great, too!

I would definitely consider Texas as a relocation destination. Depending on costs, you could look at Mansfield (just S of Arlington), Burleson (just down 35 from Fort worth), Crowley, Joshua, etc. If you move into Johnson county taxes will be cheaper than Tarrant(Fort Worth) or Dallas counties. If you move North, you have South lake, Plano, McKinney, Saginaw, etc. I guess it all depends on where you find a place to work.
I've been here for 8 years, house is almost paid off, second car almost paid off (bought it for my mother in law for peace of mind) and will be actively improving my inventory of toys.
I will tell you that the heat here is completely different than AZ's heat. the humidity will kill you if you dont take precautions. The Plus side is we have some awesome ranges all around the metroplex

Where you'd want to live would depend on what kind of lifestyle you want (city or country or something in between). Just stay out of Austin.

There are only 6 people in this state that know what a turn signal is and how to use it properly. When I am able to leave this Hellish state, there will be only 5. I may be the only person here that feels a safe following distance at 65mph is more than 10 feet. Theres enough humidity here to put a Turkish bath to shame, and I dont feel right having to run my AC on Christmas Day. We seem to be a little more gun friendly than other states which is a plus. You may want to do a good recon before you pull up stakes.

Good life in Texas isn't simply living in the state...it is a "state of mind". There are those who live here out of necessity such as employment or no one else would tolerate them. Those who were born here and just never left for one reason or another. And those who feel Texas is home and love it for what it is and the rich history of it's past. The state is vast enough to offer any lifestyle you may choose, but that you need to do a little soul searching on yourself to discover.

If you don't like crowds, stay out of the big cities. If you like small town life, just pick one and go for it....Keep in mind that you maynot fit in right from the "get-go" as a lot of little towns may not cotton to out siders in the beginning. Do you need a job, do you like to fish, do you like to hunt, do you want the night life, looking for wide open space, to be a farmer/rancher or you choose. And as you know when it comes to climate you have some choice as to how hot and humid you care to with stand.

Figure out what you are looking for, then come on back over pay a visit and see if you like what you see.

And if you or anyone else doesn't like Texas, well the borders are still open for free travel both directions at this time....for the time being. And while use of your turn signal may appear to be optional, we would appreciate your making use of yours for the sake of others.

I wasn't born a Texan, but I got here as fast as I could. But, I will die and be buried a proud Texan...that is a fact.

Mr. Dchak... I bet every Texan is trying to run over you and you had best pick up your tent and head back to wherever it was that you came from. I wish you good bye. Ain't nobody in Texas chaining you down here. Goodbye and go sit in a snowbank on Christmas day.
