    ~ `Hmmmmmmm......`~

`Strangely, the internet is mostly silent on this. I'm finding the same report being repeated on multiple sites, but little in the way of independent reporting. The information seems to be single-sourced (McAfee). I'm not sure what to make of that at this (somewhat) stage.....`

Massive Cyber Attack in USA, Europe and Latin America Siphons $2.5 Billion From Banks - YouTube

"A report from cyber security firm McAfee indicates that a large scale, widespread attack is taking place on the financial system with some 60 banks affected so far. According to the report, a virus installed on banks' computers has allowed approximately $2.5 billion to be stolen from large corporate accounts. The theft is ongoing as international law enforcement agencies are working to identify the hackers................"

I don't know about the veracity of the "Massive Cyber Attack..." but attacks like that aimed at our financial institutions, public utilities, and military bases are just around the corner...and in some cases have already taken place.

Cyber War! Likely to catch most of us by surprise. What a mess that will be. I'm not a survivalist but making some type of plan like having extra cash on hand, ammo, water, medicines and food to last awhile seems to be a good idea to me.

That's true but most Americans are not directly impacted. By that I mean most of don't feel the effects of such an attack. When we do, its going to be very, very unpleasant. Brownouts, blackouts, shortage of supplies, interruptions in transportation, stock markets taking big hits. That's what I'm talking about. Going to be especially bad for the very young, very old, the infirm and those who are socially isolated - lack of family and friends.

That is why I keep the hollow trees out in the woods. I keep several so that I do not create a noticable trail always going to one of them!

If this attack happens it will truly suck. We (the USA) have been aware of this potential type of computer attack for decades and if we have not taken steps to prevent the catastrophic side effects such as electric grids being turned off, then we deserve to be "slapped" back into reality.

Unfortunately failure to plan on their part WILL create an emergency on my part.

I agree with you on this one, I'm not a prepper but I do find myself stocking up on the main things my family might need incase of problems like this.

I work cybercrime cases (among other things) and cyber attacks are far more common than people realize. We are also involved in a cyber war ..
