Here's the answer;the 'SHTF' moment has come and gone. It came long before most of us were born.
Taking a step back for a moment,I am amazed at the durability of the concept that the poop will hit the oscillator in a noticeable and sudden fashion. It didn't happen that way for Nazi Germany. Hitler was legally appointed to office by a Democratically elected German government.
It didn't happen in Argentina that way either. It took decades of economic mismanagement before things fell apart and their head of state resigned out of complete incompetence. Zimababe did not descend from the best economy in Africa to printing twenty zeros on its currency overnight either.
The honest answer to this question is that the SHTF a long time ago. The date of the end of the American experiment was laid down on August 14th, 1935.It is no exaggeration to state that Social Security, which was created on that day, is a major part in why our nation by some measurements stands in mathematical default in its finances. The good news is that nations generally do survive an economic collapse or implosion but what arises in the ashes afterward tends to be a more oppressive government than the one that went bust to begin with.
Returning to topic, if one is looking for a more recent date to fix then 2008 could suffice,as it was the year our nation elected a politican who swore he would right the wrongs of the past , and instead has perpetuated them twice as much three times as quickly. Instead of holding him responsible for his mistakes we as a nation have collectively decided to shrug our shoulders and return to our reruns of Lost on Netflix.

I have a skyhook ckicken little.
The police are there in minutes but my 9mm is there in 1300 feet per second.
If guns kill people, then....forks make people fat, pencils misspell words, and cars make people drive drunk.
I'd say the stuff has already hit the fan and that it is only a matter of degree at this point. It seems like everyday there is another little spot of "stuff" stuck here or there and one of these days were going to wake up and go "why is everything brown?"

In any type of fight, & especially gun fights, there are no winners ..... just varying degrees of losers. The only fight you win is the one you never get into.
Every human being is different from each other. That fact, is precisely what makes us all the same.
Lets not over think common sense.
