Forgive me for butting in as a concerned forigner but if this is happening to perfectly good personnel who are being forceably retired through no fault of their own, are there no redundancy payments?

I know the Navy is not a business, but if a person with 15 years in a job gets made redundant be cause of 'restructuring' (and lets face it, this is exactly what is happening) then they are due compensation in the form of a redundancy payment based on years of service.

I do not count a reduced pension as a redundancy payment, no doubt the pension would be contributed to by the 'employee' ether directly or indirectly.
Never going to buy another long barrel pistol? Ok, I've now got three, one more to get and that's it...... honest! Can't afford more..... I think.... I have... an addiction.

My Son had 3 choices on the ERB discharge.
    1. For 15 years 8 months service, early retirement at 37% of his base pay for life. (Normally retirement is paid at 20 or more years at 50% and up)
    2. Honorable discharge and apply for disability and hope for approval and pay
    3. Honorable discharge and a lump sum payment.

And he would still have the normal Veteran's benefits.

(Tongue in cheek here). If your son was to claim he was gay, I can almost guarantee that he would be asked to reup instead of being booted out. Sir, your son was screwed over, just MHO.

Wouldn't work, he's married with a beautiful daughter.
Him and several hundred others got the same raw deal.
I told him if he wanted to get his 20 in, he could go into the Guard or Reserves or Coast Guard or Air Force or Army.
He was EOD for some time. I'm sure the Army would like someone to defuse or destroy IEDs.
    It was up to him.

The Government is just taking notes from the big corporations. They do the exact same thing. It's all about money, nothing else!!!! Pretty soon we'll all be making pennies and living off the government.

In this country Corrado they are not quite as enamored with prior service and loyalty as they are in UK.

Sometimes the military is offered a buy out sometimes not.

Well, it's great to see obama is finally getting spending under control by avoiding those military pensions!

Please remember that green is the standard color for sarcasm.
    When elected, I promise:
    • Every citizen will be issued a 1911 and an M-14
    • Every county with a population over 1,000 will have a free public shooting range with stages at 3, 7, 15, 25, 50, 100, 200, and 300 meters.
    • Practice ammo will be issued sufficient for two range session per month.
    • A constitutional amendment will be proposed, reading: "The right of the individual to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."
A vote for Mad Kaw is a vote for sanity.

MadKaw, I see you changed your avatar somewhat.

You got my vote. If I can find you on the ballot.

That's just BS. A man devotes 15 years of his life to his country and gets the bum's rush. Not right, not right at all.
Youth and skill are no match for age and treachery.

Not to brag, but I taught Mark Walberg to bump fire. A revolver.
