    The Cartel corridor

The police are outgunned and are asking for help. Just thought I would pass it on.

    Re: The Cartel corridor

"Pinal County, Arizona Sheriff Paul Babeu is raising money to privately outfit his officers with body armor and more powerful weapons because he and his deputies say they can’t compete with the cartels, especially when it comes to weapons. He even has a website asking for donations. Babeu says the Obama Administration needs to help the state of Arizona, not sue it."

We are in for perious times, folks. There are even federal signs on Interstate 8, which warn people of the dangers of traveling through this part of the country.

Yet...no immigration reforms, and nothing is being done to seal the borders.

    Sad.

    Re: The Cartel corridor

A major part of the illigal immigration problem is that too many politicians insist on linking border security with comprehemsive immigration reform?
    Why?
Obama took an oath to defend the country and the Constitution. He did NOT take an oath (except maybe to the President of Mexico) to reform our immigration laws or to confer amnesty on 8-12 million lawbreakers.
These two issues - Border Security and immigration reform - need to be decoupled in the minds of our senators and representatives.

Seems to me this is a Homeland security issue. If illegals are coming into the US armed and firing on US law enforcement or citizens that is an act of war. What is the difference between hijacking jets and attacking buildings or illegally crossing the boarder armed with intent besides the scale of the attack?

I'm sure if drug interdiction along the border picked up substantially, there would be considerably less money going into a number of politicians hip pockets at all levels.

You'are absolutely right. The bizarre thing is: that's how the Korean War started. North Korea invaded South Korea and we jumped "to the rescue". But - - - - - - someday invades Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico, and no one seems to give a damn. Except of course those of us who live here.

    Re: The Cartel corridor

Border security is the problem, Example: We have pirates chasing boats on the lakes in Texas along the Rio Grande one being Falcon Lake near Zapata. The lake straddles the border between Texas and Mexico. The up side is you CAN carry on the lake, as long as you stay on the Texas side, the bad news if you accidentally float into Mexico you go to a Mexican Jail! So pirates from Mexico speed up demanding Drugs, weapons or cash, they take it and usually leave. We are planning a camping trip to the Big Bend area, you better believe we are going armed! (though did I have to say that part about being armed on this site...? )

    Re: The Cartel corridor

I recall when we were told NAFTA would solve all these problems. Guess what folks I didn't believe it then and still don't!

I spent an entire beautiful summer Saturday listening to and participating in the discussion about NAFTA and was truly disappointed in the turn out for it. What really ticked me off was that so many that finally found out what NAFTA was really doing to our country and bemoaned the fact were no where to be found on that beautiful Saturday when they had the opportunity learn about it, but were quick to jump on the soapbox and cry about what it was doing to their jobs and the countries economy. I have stood against NAFTA from the begining.

Now comes the question does NAFTA have any bearing on the problems we are seeing on our Southern Border? Well folks you can bet your "Sweet Butt" it does, at least in my well thought out opinion!

NAFTA has nothing to do with it, lax security for years and a vast market for drugs is the problem plain and simple! I support NAFTA, in fact it is the US, supported by union interests, that has not been faithful to the agreement. The real problem is prohibition, gee it worked so well in the 20's!
