Hey 67 Cuda!! Do you drive one?

My car when I was in high school was a Maroon 1967 Barracuda.

Of course, back then, it wasn't so old. I graduated in '72.

I really liked the way the back set folded down and there was a flap that folded into the trunk to give lots of leg room. I just kept a mattress in the back of mine and spent a lot of my time recruiting buxom blondes... with very limited success.

Mine was a '65, BUTT. You know, the one with the big back glass. Seats folded down there too. Lots of star gazing through that window! Ahem.

And, if you had any lights on, you found that none of those blondes were really blondes.

So, you were a backseat inspector in your youth?
When Leonidas was preparing to make his stand, a Persian envoy arrived. The envoy explained to Leonidas the futility of trying to resist the advance of the huge Persian army and demanded that the Spartans lay down their arms. Leonidas told Xerxes "MOLON LABE", or "Come And Get Them."

I spent more time looking for inspectees than I did inspecting... UNTIL sigh college.

Then all of a sudden the girls - uhh, young women - all of sudden learned how to say yes - or at least, why not?

Glory days. They pass you by...

That's because they were about to turn off to lover's lane. Car guys crack me up with their braggin' anyway. I remember whoopin' a RS Camero with a friggin' RD350 Yamaha once, with my room mate on the back that weighed half the weight of the bike and who was hollerin' like a girl all the way through my 3rd gear wheelie. He never rode with me again. Suited me fine. Two guys on a bike seems a little, well, you know.

    I once won a race in a 1972 Ford Galaxie 500 against a co-worker driving a souped up Chevy.

I did it by getting in front him when he slowed down in a 90 degree curve going over a blind hill - and then blocking him from passing the rest of the way to work.

That was a few years after the 'Cuda had been put out to pasture.

Re: Hey 67 Cuda!! Do you drive one?

I won a race with a 68 SS 396 driving my 62 Ford crown vic coupe with a 390 interceptor. The Race, Alpine to Marfa. The reason, An older friend I asked to buy a bottle of wine for me and my date said if I could beat him to Marfa, he would buy it. I punched it and made it around the curve going out of Alpine ahead of him, barely made it around a semi before the Army convoy coming up the two lane highway towards Alpine sealed his ability to pass. That Crown Vic Coupe would run strong, but still, not a match for a 396 SS. I'm still amazed I survived that summer. The road from Ft. Davis to Alpine was 24 miles. 12 miles of mountain curves and 12 miles of straight flats. My best time was 15 minutes.

I had a 62 Galaxi 500 XL, convertable with a 406, 3 duces and a 4 spd. Car ran good on top end but took it's time getting there. Champane Beige, Black Top & Red Interior. Chrome Wheels with the Ford Baby Moon Centers. Wish I had it now.
