    It's Kinda Sad

I just checked the Kelly Blue Book trade value on my wife's vehicle. Ain't worth much. A private sale isn't worth the effort either.

It's been 9 years and the wife has been hinting. Time to get a new Chevy.

That just means that you got your money's worth out if that car!

With my recent experiences, and my brother's even more recent experiences, however, I'm not sure I'll ever buy another Chevy. And that's really, really sad, because I used to be a huge Chevy fan.

I've always been happy with them. And it's not like I have much choice. Ford or Chevy. American cars are what I buy and so that excludes Chrysler. Lol

I think I've found your resale value problem.

Right after I moved out and got my first divorcemobile, it was a '93 Grand Marquis with 185k miles on it. It was better than the Chrysler minivan my ex had to have a couple of years earlier.

I was a craigslist lurker for a quite a while. Did some test drives. Any car can get abused and end up a hunk of junk, but Fords generally last. German cars generally last. Ram trucks generally last. Volvos generally last. Japanese cars generally last, with the possible exception of Mitsubishi cars and some Acura transmissions. But if you see a Chrysler family product or a GM family product in my driveway, you can be certain that I've got visitors.

Yeah, those and Oldsmobiles are hard to get much out of now that they're discontinued. It's worth more up north.

My last Suburban became an electrical disaster. My brother bought a top end Silverado last year. Spent more time in the shop than out. They finally gave them a new one due to the fact that one was lemon. Lather, rinse, repeat. Except that the second one didn't quite qualify as a lemon. He drove down the street to the Ford dealer and took a $10,000 hit. My son seems to be having some pretty good luck with a Cruze. My fingers are crossed. Have to admit I like the look of the new Cruze hatchback. YMMV. Good luck with this endeavor.

Sad to say for you but we are now on our second KIA. Wife bought the first one as a commuter because she was driving a ton of miles every rear back and forth to work. That was a KIA RIO. It had 106000 miles on it when we traded it for a KIA Optima. With those miles on it the RIO still had the original exhaust and brakes on it. Besides regular service all that was done to it was a set of tires and a O2 sensor. When we traded it the dealer was amazed at the excellent condition it was in. They also had it resold in 4 days.

I have an 04 GMC Canyon and it's been one headache after another. Catalytic converter blew apart at a seam, replaced both drive universals, brakes, ABS, blower motor switch twice, broken door handles and tailgate handle and now the PCM. This truck only has 126000 on it. Sorry but I'm very disappointed with this truck.
