(T)he American has grown so accustomed to the denial of his constitutional rights and to the minute regulation of his conduct by swarms of spies, letter-openers, informers and agents provocateurs that he no longer makes any serious protest.-- H.L. Mencken, The American Credo: A Contribution toward the Interpretation of the National Mind (1920)

"Guns are a lot like parachutes ~ If you need one and don't have one, you'll probably never need one again".

The problems we face today are there because the people
who work for a living are out numbered by the people that vote for a living

"No man who refuses to bear arms can give sound reason why he should be allowed to live in a free country" Teddy Roosevelt

Gun control is like trying to reduce drunk driving by making it tougher for sober people to own cars.

Why would Jackpot Nevada, or Volcano Hawaii be considered odd?

When I think of oddly named towns, Cut and Shoot, TX always comes to mind. There are around 150 believable stories as to how that name came about. When I lived in Conroe, TX in the 70s, about 10 miles from Cut and Shoot, there were a couple of road houses there that helped the little town live up to its name.

Ohio - my home state - well, they missed the boat. Off the top of my head:
Jelloway < my fave, not far from my home town!
    Coolville
    Blue Ball
    Defiance
    Knockemstiff
    Celeryville
    Reminderville
There's more -- I'll be back after more coffee!!

My favorite was Hall City. I forgot where it was. The reason I liked it was because if you went to their city hall, it said "The City of Hall City City Hall"
