    Re: Your Favorite Pizza Place?

Local place called, Uncle Vinnie's here in the Tulsa/Broken Arrow area.
Like me, the guy Vinnie is a native New Yorker. And they know how to do pizza
    the right way!

I abso-freakin'-lutely refuse to go anywhere near a Pizza Hut.
They'll never get a dime outta me!

Yup, me either. The local Pizza Hut is just a couple of blocks away from my house. They tore it down and build a brand new one in it's place. They made the place look so nice I thought maybe they finally got the hint. I stopped in there for lunch with a couple of the guys that work in my office. The food is just as bad as it ever was. It's the worst pizza I've ever eaten. Never again!

You outlanders are missing something great if you've never had St. Louis Style pizza.
To my knowledge, the only chain serving it here is Imo's but the b-stards won't deliver to my apartment building.
Still, I can pick up a reasonable facsimile in the frozen food section of the supermarket.
What makes it "St. Louis Style" is the Provel cheese - a mixture of Provolone and something else.

Darn! I bet a bunch of you guys have never heard of toasted ravioli, either!

I make 'em at home....boil ravioli till "al dente", dip lightly in egg, coat with bread crumbs and deep fry.
That's the way it's done in NYC.

And sorry...but St. Louis Style pizza?
Everyone knows that the pizza made its bones in NY.

Of course it did - but it wasn't perfected until it had the midwest modification.

If you're ever in Ridgeland, MS (just north of Jackson), try Soulshine Pizza (http://www.soulshinepizza.com/). It's a local favorite. Thin crust, more California-style I guess. But awesome. They have the best cheesecake around, too. (I know, weird...)
