Well, if you got 20 years to wait for shade. Actually I have no ideas for you Texas boys on trees. What the heck did you have before? Might be a good idea to go with the same type if they grew well.
hello everyone,due to hurricane ike we lost our 2 big trees and want to get 2 new ones.like the ones you can get at lowes or homedepot or even houston garden center.what type of tree can i get that would grow fast and have lots of shade.I do not have a green thumb so i am no pro here.when is the best time to plant.seems to me that you plant late winter.by the way it is in texas city (galveston county)south texas.and i am talking about the type of tree you go and buy it and bring it home in the back of a pick up.

I dont know trees but i can tell you that they are very old.but i really dont want to wait 20 years.i would love pecan but i bet they grow slow

I am not sure for South Texas, but here in Tn. about the fastest growing tree I know of is the maple tree. They seem to grow about 10 to 15 feet a year here if there is plenty of water.
