    Judge .45LC/.454 accuracy

    Hi,
I have searched the fourum and cannot come up with a straight answer about Judge accuracy. When shooting .45LC or .454 loads is the Judge as accurate as any other revolver or does it suffer because of the longer cylinder? All I can come up with are reviews on .410 patterns andpenitration, what about the other side of the coin? Would the Judge in .45LC have the same accuracy as a Tracker in .45Lc with the same lenght barrel? I'm interested in a full sized Judge and a compact FTW! Any opinions on this would be great.

My Raging Judge with a 6 inch barrel. Shooting from a rest with 454 I can group 6" at a 150 yards and 10" groups at 200 yards with open sights. I never ran 45LC through it so no info there. With 410 slugs i get 4" groups at 75 yards. The firearm is probably a better performer than i can shoot. My brother and I can tell no difference when shooting comparable caliber wheel guns in accuracy.

Shooting at 7yards if i remember right with Winchester Cowboy loads, 2.5" cylinder 3" barrel, about a year or so ago. Contrary to what swat magazine says about the judge at 7 yards

With all the practice ive got in the past year i could probably do better, and i'd consider myself an average shot

This is my 3X3 Judge at 25 yds. Target on the left is all Judge. On the right, all the small holes are my .38 snubby. Just seeing how accurate both were at distance. A flier here and there, but for the most part pretty accurate. The fliers are really me trying to draw from the holster at speed. You can see in the pic on the right that when you slowly target shoot, you can get a heck of a group. Mine does well with a good 6 o'clock sight lineup. It's a toss up for me which gun I'm more accurate with, 1911 or Judge in .45C.

I have dialed in a load with a 230g LRN Lee mold .452 that has blown me away. The mold actually drops a 235g bullet and I leave it at .452 for the .45C and I resize to .451 for my 1911. My PT1911 did not like .452 nor does my RIA's for some reason. I adjusted my Win231 powder ever so slightly for the extra 5g. So basically I have one mold feeding two guns and dropping boolits that are accurate and butter smooth operating. I get a little bit of leading in the Judge, nothing drastic but it's there. None at all in my 1911's.

I have the utmost confidence in the Judge when out in the woods. Squirrel season started 8/27 here and it's my son's first year with his own gun. He got it for his birthday this past June. I was SHOCKED that his first shot ever was dead on bullseye. We went Sun the 28th after Church and all those squirrels that drove me crazy deer season were gone. LOL!

I squirrel hunt with a .410 shotgun and he had a .177. When there were no squirrels, he threw crabapples in the air and I shot them with the Judge. He thought I was the coolest thing in the world. LOL!

I have to say that 45 colt has been perfectly accurate up to 10 to 12 yards on the 3" that I own, and a small group about 4" at 25 yards so I think its very accurate, the 6" has me hopeful that when I get it for hunting I will be able to take a good kill with it.
