410 3" magnum slug vs .45 long Colt

Hello all. I'm going to be getting a Raging Judge soon, and I've been pondering what to feed it. Has anyone tried 3" mag slugs versus .45LC and what were your results? It would seem like the slugs would be more accurate, since they don't have as big a gap to reach the barrel, but I've been around guns long enough to know what seems logical isn't always so. Thanks in advance.

They won't be accurate at all. They are smaller in diameter than the .452 of a 45 colt, and won't engage the rifling. They will not be properly stabilized and will soon tumble after leaving the barrel. Stick with 45 colts and buckshot.

You should try it out first to see I think one of the gun testers out there only tried 2 3/4 in slugs vs the 45 long colt. Problem is there are so many different loads out there for the .45 that it's hard to compete with the limited slugs you may find with the .410.

I think you're most likely right, I didn't factor in the actual caliber difference. Still, I was offered some for free when I get it, so what the heck, can't hurt to try.

Shooting anything that the Judge can digest is the fun!

Who can turn down free ammo for a gun you have? Provided someone else didn't load the ammo.

Try out DDupleks Dupo 7 rounds the videos seem to speak for themselves but I plan on using them when I get my 6.5 later this month. If they leave a 5in hole that is 5in deep, with a cavity like that and 7 wound channels you cant go wrong from what I have seen they hit like a mack truck.

It's not that a 410 slug won't work as a defense round at close range - just don't expect accuracy at any distance.

This is dead-on. The slugs won't have nearly the accuracy that a 45 hollowpoint would.

I have the Titanium snubby .45LC that Taurus used to make. Now that is a gun Taurus should bring back - much more easily concealed than any Judge.
