from Florida.

FedEx attempted a delivery at my house, which I'm guessing is my long suffering PT1911.  Hope it shoots now.

If I'd have know it was coming I'd have waited patiently by the door.

Been waiting 7 weeks for it's return, so I guess one more day won't matter.  Roll Eyes

Interstingly, last Friday i returned home to find my repaired Beretta sitting quitely at my front door waiting for me!
i was quite surprized 1) because i had no notice that it was being returned or that it was even being worked on and 2) because UPS dropped it off without  a signature or responsible (not a child) at home to take delivery!
I can't imagine just how UPS would defend a wrongful death case if a child or children had been home and  started playing with the weapon and killed themselves.
but hey, what can you say?
mine was gone 19 days including weekends.

That is suprising!

Was it shipped without signature required, or did UPS just ignore it?  Shocked Could have been picked up by anyone and the next thing you know it's in a robbery down at the 7/11.

Got the PT1911 back today.  It was all repaired, and functions well, but Taurus sent it back with a stripped hex grip screw.  Angry  Don't think it was rounded off when it went out, but jeesh do they not inspect these guns?

Had to go buy a bit to try and remove the screw so I can get some decent grips back on it, then off to the range!  Shooter

Olfarhors:

Maybe the UPS driver did you a favor because he thinks you are such a nice guy!   Grin  He probably noted the Beretta return address and figured you were anxious to get it.  Cheesy

My UPS driver is such a nice guy, he will leave packages on the front step.  I did have to sign for a desktop computer and monitor several years ago; but smaller packages he just leaves them on the porch for my convenience.

It appeared to not be signature required!
of course they did not get a signature anyway, nobody home!
was actually regular ground shipping as well.
OF course I have a universal reputation as a general nice guy, easy to get along with, stubornly handsome and intelligent as all get out!
But i try not to let others do favors for me because of these few attributes that I posess!
It all turned out fine as we are empty nesters, but anyone could have came along (salesman, kids etc) and simply picked it up and been gone and of course i would not have even known it was stolen for weeks , until i called Beretta looking for it.
I have only sent 3 weapons back for repair in my life and the other two I knew they were comiong and they DID require a signature as well.
MY wife gets enough crap through UPS from HSN / QVC that the drivers know her by name so this might have had some bearing on it, I don't like them coming to every Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner though!
and exchanging presents with us is really abit to far in my opinion!

So long as the kids don't call him daddy! (sorry couldn't leave it be)

Seriously, I've been thinking of building some sort of lockable box outside my door that they could drop packages into and lock up for me to get to later. (alot of the local implement dealers do that for farmers around here.  just a thought for ya!

My UPS driver is strict.  When my FNP-9 came back from the factory it shipped ADULT SIGNATURE MUST BE 21 and the UPS driver carded my 19 year old daughter, and he wouldn't give it to her.  She called me and we agreed to meet so I could pick up my gun.  I do appreciate it.  He doesn't leave AMMO at my door either, he leaves a note and I pick it up at the local UPS terminal, which isn't far from me.

What made it worse is that trying to remove the screw I broke the head off, so the bushing is now useless.

Have to come up with a single bushing before I can get the grips firmly in place again.  So after waiting 7 weeks on the gun, I'm now waiting on USPS to deliver a bushing!   Angry

My wife thinks the gun is cursed. Evil  She may be right.

I do cursed gun disposal here at my place!
simply sent the weapon (with bill of sale) and 200 dollars disposal fee ( I am sure it has some lead contamination so you know federal haz mat fees.) and i can rid you and your household of that scary thing!
PS: if any strange ammo exist with the weapon i can dispose of it for free at the time i do the weapon.
No thanks needed , glad to help!

Thanks for your kind offer olfarhors, but I bought a six pack of holy water Angel and blessed the thing with a new bushing.  It is now considerably less demonic with grips that actually fit!

Now I just need to paint it so it'll look good as new.... well maybe better!

So long as the kids don't call him daddy! (sorry couldn't leave it be)

Reminds me of a joke.

I guy goes to a psychic and she does the tarot card deal.

As she is going through the deck, she says,  " I see your father is deathly ill."

The guy sits up, shocked.

She turns another card. "I see him gasping for air and grasping at his chest."

This alarms the guy.

Ths psychic says. "I see him falling to the floor. I don't want to concern you, but I think your father just died."

This really upsets the guy. "Excuse me," he says. "Since you tell me that, I MUST go home and check on my father."

The guy drives home like a madman. As he gets near his house he meets an ambulance screaming down the street with lights and siren on.

Even more concerned now, he pulls into the driveway of the house he shares with his mother and father.

Expecting to find the worst, he goes in the house and finds his father sitting in the recliner with his feet propped up - a beer in one hand and the TV remote in the other.

Relieved, but still concerned, the man asks, "Dad, are you all right.?"

His father takes a swig of beer and belches.

"Yeh. I'm fine, but you won't believe what happened," the man he calls father says.

"The milkman just dropped dead on the back porch."

 Grin

BUTT, you and olfarhors may remember trying to help me figure out how to fix this PT1911 a few months back.

Original Owner had so badly "polished" the disco and sear that even a smith couldn't fix it.  Sent it back, and I'm happy to report that it now runs like a race horse.  Shooter

Just a thing of beauty!  Doncha just luv a happy ending!

On thing I have never changed is the BUSHINGS in the old 1911.  I have Raasco Grips with the standard HEX HEAD screws - which I dearly hate.

DO standard bushings fit the threads in the frame?  Will SLOTTED head screws then work with the RAASCO  GRIPS?

Kind of a 'DUH" -- but I've been TOO lucky when removing the hex screws.  I am afraid they may be on their last legs, so figure IF I can change bushings and switch to SLOTTED screws, I maybe best do it before one of these puppies strips out and I am left with a lot of nasty words for not changing them sooner! Angry

Thank You kind sirs on this -- August 1st! Soon ......... Thanksgiving! Time for a new gun search for Ho-Ho Day!
