I went in today to pick up a compact 9mm to go with my 24/7 pro 9mm 4 inch.I looked it over at the gun shop but didnt break it down and look at it.I really should have though, because the recoil spring body has a crack in it about a half an inch long. So for now Ive got a $400 paper weight. Pretty good QC huh?Im not knocking Taurus But Im not sure I will buy another one.Had I shot that gun before I broke it down It wouldve most likely jacked my hand up

Actually the gun will fire fine like it is, the rod assembly just holds the springs captive when the gun is broken down, and make assembly easier, nothing more.  But, in those famous words of Will Rogers, "S--- Happens!"  They run about $7.00 plus shipping, Shoot it till the new one comes in, then send the old one back for a free replacement, and you will have a spare.

seriously there are probs with every gun maker sending out bad guns. or guns with bad parts. so if that is what you base your purchases on. you might as well start making guns for yourself. cause that is the only way you will see a 100 percent qc rate. glocks blow up. hk's blow up. sigs jam up. and unless you buy a custom shop 1911 then you will most likely have to send it to a smith to be worked over.
but like jake said. the gun will function properly with it in its current condition. its only captive to aid in assembly
