    July 2012 Handgun Shootout

    Handgun Shootout Rules

    Free-For-All Shootout

    Two handed, strong side.
Target is the MidwayUSA Pistol Target
    http://www.midwayusa.com/Content/pdf...tol_target.pdf
(Print at 100%, Poster Mode, Landscape, Cut Marks. requires 2 sheets)
Or 1 page at 100% in Portrait.

    Center is 10,then 9, 8,outer ring is 7.

    7, or 10 yards.*
High score wins, group size is tie-breaker (no X-Ring this time)
Whichever distance you choose, that's what you are stuck with for the month.
Winner for Taurus (Rimfire and Centerfire) at each distance.
Winner for other handgun (Rimfire and Centerfire) at each distance.

    Rimfire

    Caliber .17 or .22
Iron sights or unmagnified red dot sights.
10 rounds per target (Max score 100)

    Centerfire

Any caliber handgun (revolver or pistol)
Iron sights or unmagnified red dot sights.
5 rounds per target (Max Score 50)

*The 7 or 10 yards will depend on what is available at your range.
This target is small enough you should be able to put multiple targets on a cardboard backing. (4 should cover a full size B-27 silhouette)

Winners will be selected on the first day of the following month.
Or whenever chicarrones feels like it, like the last day of the month after dark when nobody can shoot anyway.

    NOTE:
5 rounds for centerfire since the ammo costs loads more than .22LR

Why print it on 2 sheets in poster mode? It still prints the exact same size target and wastes paper. I just tried it on my printer. According to the info on the target itself, the black (bullseye) is 4" in diameter and each of the rings is 1" thick. When you print the PDF file @ 100 percent, poster mode with the cut marks, the actual target prints out with the black @ 4" and the rings 1" thick. Print in "portrait" mode, 100 percent and the whole target prints on 1 sheet and the size is still proper.

    I'll check on that.

OK. Acrobat wanted to "Shrink to Fit" on 1 page, which is why I did 2 pages, which for me makes it easier to see.
I overrode the default and selected 100% which printed it past the margins to the edge of the paper.
Either way. I prefer the larger size on 2 sheets.

When you go to print it in Acrobat Reader, click on the "Size" button, select "Actual Size" and also check the "Orientation Auto Portrait/Landscape" dot and it will print actual size on one sheet.

You might need to upgrade your Acrobat Reader to the latest version as mine prints it properly on one sheet and using a machinist's rule, I measured the black @ 4" and the rings at 1" as it says on the target.

BTW, I used Acrobat Reader, not the full version of Acrobat.

I'm fresh out of those targets.
Can you measure the rings and see if they are the same diameters?
Center needs to be 2" diameter, next ring 4", 6" and 8".

It's actually smaller. Red Center is 1 5/8", 9 ring is 1/2" thick, 8 ring is 1/2" thick, 7 ring is 11/16" thick and the outer 6 ring is 7/8" thick. Since the WallyWorld target is a bit smaller, it would actually be slightly more difficult at the specified ranges than the Midway target.
