Hi, I just found this thread by mistake actually. I was wondering about what targets are used for Taurus .22lr and 38spl? Can they be downloaded or do I come up with my own? I thought I read where certain ones to be used can be bought at Walmart. I have a brand new Taurus 94 and 817. Can a 44spl be used? I have a 431 that shoots pretty well but I have not shot it in years.
    Thanks,
    Chuck

Welcome to the forum PZ! You'll really like this forum. Also there's a lot of useful information to be had by the members here.
We would love to have you join the shootout. We have it every month. Yes you can use any gun you want. Take a look at the earlier postings. You can get the targets here and print them yourself or can get at Wally World too.

Still a couple days left to get some targets punched for this match. If you haven't yet shot it, git-r-done (weather permitting, of course), if you have, there's still time to better your score.

    Hey Chich,
That old H & R sure does bring back memories - first handgun I ever shot was one just like it. Belonged to a high school buddy's father and I got to shoot it when we were out hunting jackrabbits one day (Northwestern North Dakota back in the 1950's).

Duh! I just realized I have one more Taurus revolver I ought to try out on the center fire portion. Model 85 DAO factory bobbed hammer 2" .38. It's been pretty accurate in the past and I usually carry it so maybe I ought to shoot it in the matches now and again.

    May shoot

Here's hoping I did this right. For my centerfire I used some old reloads I had from 1994! I have not been shooting or reloading like I used to but hope to get back into it. I used a used Taurus Titanium snubby I got cheap from a fellow going to Iraq in 2004...very nice gun. I'd put it up against any S&W any day! Was a good shooter in 04 and still is. I hope the pics are self explanatory. The .22 was 7yds, centerfire 10yds. I used .22lr,Federal,36gr HP,copper plated value pack. The Ruger Hunter has a red dot scope not magnified...cheap BSA and even the logo fell off the thing Also used a Taurus 94 22lr...Ruger SP101 357,with XS sights. I had a couple B-27 targets so I just folded one up and made copies on my printer. If I did something wrong or could do something better let me know. I used one target for each except for the Taurus 94...I used 2 and used the best. Having time constraints, etc this contest gives me something to look forward to and still have time to do it. I had a couple flyers, worst being with my Taurus 38..Not sure what to expect from the old reloads. The reloads was made up of: 2.4gr 700X, 148gr HBWC, Fed cases and primers. First target is Taurus 94 then Ruger Hunter,Taurus Titanium and the Ruger. Let me know what you think!

Sorry, I could only post so many pics but the Ruger measurement is 2.83". The Taurus out shot it!! The snubbies I only fired 5 rounds. I don't know how to put those red lines on a target for measurements. Again, just so I don't upset the applecart, let me know how you guys would like to better see the results. Some guys here are pretty detailed!

If you have a scanner or printer/scanner all in one thing, some of us are using the OnTarget software, there is a free version.
    On Target v1.10 Download
Once you play with it awhile, it gets pretty easy to scan and measure the holes.

Looks like Thursday is the last day I can shoot some targets.
Beryl is rolling through tonight and tomorrow.
Rain for the next 36 hours or so.
    Then rain again on Friday.

Rain every evening as I am driving past the range on my way home. I don't mind a light rain when shooting, but we have been getting down pours. A light rain would be nice. Still a chance tonight, or I miss another month. No chance Thursday will be dark before I get home.

Well, my last try for this month.
Took 4 targets to get sighted in, but then I nailed it.
Heat Index is 94, darn humid outside, but no wind.

    Score 50 (5X)

Hoping I can sweep the category, 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for Taurus over 4".
