My favorite currently is my 1911. Before that it was my trued, true and abused M66. As I look back in retrospect, I can't see how my wrists handled the abuse of the 357 revolver. The 1911 by comparison is like shooting a pellet gun, so Smooth, so comfortable and Hey, it's a 1911. JayRitz, I would say you need to shoot one just ONCE. It will make up your mind for you, But whatever you do, try other Taurus handguns first. Once you fire the 1911, there will be no other gun for consideration.

WOW!! I just stumbled into this one, but here goes.

It would be absolutely IMPOSSIBLE for me to name just one "BEST" Taurus. The historic record of the 92/99/917 (for 9mm) is irrefutable, and carries over into the 100/101s. The PT1911, while relatively new, has still raised the bar, IMHO. I don't understand why they are still referred to with the seemingly derogatory caveat as a 'VALUE' item. While I have high expectations for my 24/7G2, so far it has been no better than an industry average, and don't know about the revolvers (yet ). Well, after rambling a bit, I'd say the 92 or 1911, depending on caliber. For now, my plans for SHTF are gonna rely on some Tauri 92s and 1911s, so they better be "The BEST".
a.k.a. 2LOGICL. While I do not enjoy the misery of others, I do find comfort in it.

A VERY VERY easy one for me to answer.

    I only have one Taurus~! PT740.

But I chose it over every other 9mm and .40 gun of the same size. It's not a perfect gun. it's not a high dollar custom, but it is a good one that has gone bang on every trigger pull and hits where aimed. Contrary to "internet chatter", it seems to be a quality weapon. Color me impressed.
