Man killed by Grizzly at Yellowstone

Grizzly kills man in Yellowstone; First since '86 - CBS News

    This quote from the article......

"In an apparent attempt to defend a perceived threat to her cubs, the bear attacked and fatally wounded the man," the park stated in a statement. "Another group of hikers nearby heard the victim's wife crying out for help, and used a cell phone to call 911."

I wonder how they think calling 911 worked out for them........
When Leonidas was preparing to make his stand, a Persian envoy arrived. The envoy explained to Leonidas the futility of trying to resist the advance of the huge Persian army and demanded that the Spartans lay down their arms. Leonidas told Xerxes "MOLON LABE", or "Come And Get Them."

Always remember to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle your targets
    Reduce them to shreds
Reuse shoot them more than once
    Recycle whatever is left over

I'll make sure i won't go in that gun free zone. You would not catch me in bear country without a firearm for that very reason.

    Quote from article: "
It is in the backcountry of the park, and we have access challenges and limited communication."

It's very unfortunate that this tragedy happened; but hikers who go into the backcountry with no firearm do so at their own risk.

If I were to hike in an area with grizzly bears I would carry at least a .44 magnum or quite possibly a Ruger Alaskan .454. I don`t understand why anyone would go into the wilderness without a sidearm.

I have been tracked by a bobcat to my deer stand before and I wouldnt want to tackle him without a firearm so I definitely wouldnt tempt a bear. You never know when you may be trapped between a mother and her cubs.

Go deep into Grizzly country without a firearm? That takes guts, as demonstrated by this guy! There is a price to be paid for stupid behavior.

'I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs.' Thomas Jefferson

I liked the quote from the man who carried pepper spray. With grizzlies, the only reason to use pepper spray is to make yourself taste better.

BTW, from the statistics on fatal bear attacks, I suspect that witnesses do a very poor job of species identification.
When considering a nonlinear system, make simplifying assumptions:
    1. Assume a spherical kaw of uniform density.
    2. Ignore gravity.
    3. In a vacuum.
