    Range games anyone

I'm not sure where to post this so I'll post it here. I just got my first two pistols a PT92 and a 24/7 pro ssds. There is a range near my work. A couple guys I work with and I go for lunch at least once a week. I'm wondering what kind of games anybody knows about. All we can think of is dart games. cricket, 301, 501, etc. we need a bigger target for that. So if anybody has any ideas pleas let me know

I tend to be more of an action shooter and our private range has lot's of steel so most of our games center around normal steel stages. Just like real steel matches we use a times and fastest with no misses wins. My personal favorite is El Presidente.
We do some target work with our .22s and potatoes, Old swing set with strings hanging, drywall screw tied to the strings and slide on a potato. We fire from 15 yards, each person taking turns with a single shot. whoever gets the most out of 10 wins.

We also do a rifle game (rimfires again), found some targets with 8 bulls on each. Set them up at 50yards, call start and first one to hit all 8 bulls wins.

One thing is many ranges will not allow many of these games. That is why I consider myself very lucky to have a private range were pretty much anything goes.

A game I played as a kid learning to shoot air rifles and rimfire as a kid, grandpa called it around the world. One target "tree" 3 steels hanging low and one on top, kid A started and went til he missed, if he hit all 3 and lit the "tree" (hitting the top target which caused the first 3 to drop) he had to be matched or he won. Simple little game at 25 yds with an air rifle or ruger 22, I think I'm just gonna have to talk ol grandpa into making one for pistols.

isn't that a bit far for a pistol? I have no idea. You are correct. My range would frown on swinging potatos.

Thank you to you both. It gives me some ideas.

It is a little far but we have gotten pretty good and need the distance. At this point only 2 people have ever shot a 10.
The problem is those nice big potatoes get chewed down pretty quickly with 5 or 6 people shooting at them. We do not allow new potatoes until all pieces are gone or the next round.

    Re: Range games anyone

Walking tin cans is always fun, if you're shooting on a range that allows it. My favorite game to play is "snap the head off the toy soldier." I just get a bag of little plastic toy soldiers, and the rest is pretty self explanatory. That's pretty much a 'game' for a scoped .22 though. Nilla Wafers hot glued to a piece of cardboard make pretty good targets too - they're challenging to hit (at least at 25 yards they are) and they're just fun to shoot. A little bit messy though. Balloons blown up to 'head size' and attached to cardboard - I cut an 'X' in the cardboard, and stick the knot through - make interesting targets too. Attach 5 or 6 to the cardboard, and time each shooter to see who breaks the balloons the fastest. There's all kinds of games you can play - just use your imagination, and stay safe.

I like to use a 2x2 foot peice of cardboard, hot glue 2 colors of paint balls, take turns shooting 10 rounds each to see who can get their paint balls shot first...

If you're in stalls next to each other, put a hole in your friend's target.
Uh, what can I say. It doesn't take much to entertain me.
Check your backstop and with your range supervisor first
