    Hard rifle scabbards for motorcycles

Just bought a used Kawasaki KLR650 and was thinkin' about adapting an ATV hard rifle scabbard to it. Anyone got suggestions as to what and where to buy for such a project?

Can you adapt one of the ATV scabbards to it? I have seen several different models for ATV'S, just a thought!

I've been going that direction in my thinking, but have only found one online at over 100 bucks, comes with hardware I don't' think I need. I have these saddle bag protectors the guy that had it previous built to protect bags from the exhaust heat. They're such that I could bolt something directly to them and the rifle'd stick up behind me. That would work.

There are handle bar yokes that allow you to strap down a long gun to the handle bars. These would work well on carbines.

They just clamp to the handlebars. I usually strap a 10/22 when we go four wheeling and hunting.

I have a soft side nylon scabbard that has straps. I modified the straps so I could attach it to the side of the engine cowling on my tractor. That way I don't have to reach behind me when I need to get to it fast as I did when it was attached to the ROP bar.

I would think you would be able to attach one to the handle bar and forks of the bike but I've never tried it.

Shop around you will find stuff in your price range. Also stop in here, this is a good forum http://klrworld.com/forums/ , tell'em Maloy sent you! A lot of members have their own rig, and willing to share what they did to carry a rifle or shotgun.

My KLR that I sold. I'll probably get a 250 in the near future.

What about one of the mounts they use in cruisers to carry their shotty's, if you are not concerned about it being exposed to the enviroment? Sounds like you may be able to adapt it to the heat shield.

The Koplin hard plastic full covered is what I'm looking for. I'll browse the net for a good price. THANKS!
