If silencers were legal to possess in Minnesota I'd have one of some sort already.

any opinions?
It's the silencerco 45Osprey. Supposibly it fits on all types of .45's (including 1911). Looks pretty nice IMO. Would I get it, not for the prices I found it for... 795.00 to 879.00

I could be mistaken but doesn't it take a class 3 license to own one? I don't know because a 45 is a tough round to silence regardless.

Owning a gun doesn’t make you any more an armed citizen than owning a guitar
makes you a musician.
I am trying to understand why, besides legally sanctioned threat elimination, to buy a silencer for a .45 as a civilian.
It does look tacticool. Interesting because unless I misunderstood you don't need a threaded barrel.

Freedom exists so long as freemen stand united and devoted to protecting it.
You just need to apply and pay the $250 stamp price here in TN its not considered a class 3 I believe. I've seen some at the gun range.
The guy that has one says when he shoots at home it doesn't bother his neighbors. But he only has enough room for a small pistol range.

It does not require a license. As long as it is legal in the state, one essentially has to pass a thorough background check and purchase a $200 tax stamp from the feds. This is in addition to the cost of the suppressor, of course. I don't know all of the requirements off the top of my head so there are probably a couple of others as well.Originally Posted by joecil

In GA it's legal, only thing is is that you need to register your weapon as a "dangerous weapon" with the state. As far as fee's, i have no clue.

if you can find one, I'd say try to fit it on your gun first...

why you need a silencer? fire a 45acp in a indoor range without your ear-plugs "ONCE"--LOL no don't do it! just kidding!
i keep saying one of these days when i win the lotto i am going to build a 9mm or 45acp ar SBR with a can just for the hell of it. but then if i won that kind of money i might just build a 300 whisper instead-- good to shoot gophers in dads back yard--while he is taking his 15:00H nap!
That is one long silencer in the OP's post!

'I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs.' Thomas Jefferson
