... ......TA APRIL 2016 Rifle Shootout - "Spring Into Action!" '''
It's APRIL - a GREAT MONTH TO GET TO THE RANGE -- especially an OUTDOOR range!!
Same rules as usual – NO RULES!!!
- Shoot as many targets as you like, as many shots as you like. 25, 50, 100, 200 yds!!!
- There are some good old standards IF you want to try to be in a match up. 5 shots at 25 & 50 yards and 3 shots at 100 (or more) yds. That is only a suggestion - it is NOT a rule!!
Please list your gun, ammo optics etc so we KNOW just what you poked the holes with!!
*** Special Challenges *** are always welcome - have an idea or a grudge match - FEEL FREE to post it up and see who bites!!
C&R, pistol caliber carbines OR, DREAM another up!! We'll try anything SAFE once!! :shooter:
- New Shooters ALWAYS Welcome!
- It's not a rule - just a fact - a hole in a target is going to count! 6 holes is 6 holes - NO throw aways!
- DEADLINE for submissions is Sunday MAY 1st - 2016 @ midnight.
SCORING: Similar calibers, optics and distances will be compiled as groups - ALL shooters will be in the monthly 'report'
PLEASE post (in text) any information about gun, ammo, optics and score - THIS makes the report a lot smoother. Cut-and-Paste REALLY helps yours truly!!!
*AND a photo of the gun used (range pics a plus as well!) - we LOVE photos~!~
A great target measuring program AND it's FREE: http://www.ontargetshooting.com/download1.html <<< LINK
I'll get my mind back on bullseye shooting after Sand Lake 2016.
This has everything from 1/4" to 1" steel on it and a piece each of AR 400 & 500 target plate.
My 30-06 with steel AP rounds got through everything but the 1" (almost - some bulged on the back or were sticking out)
1st time out with the bullets so I was not at max load - I can add a few grains. Maybe the next time the 1" gets it!!!
The .223 62gr FMJ SS109 penetrator rounds went through 1/4" steel like butter!
*target at 100 yds and had everything in the book thrown at it!

Jeez guys... I really did it this time. Klutzy me.
I just almost finished up a nearly total restoration of my old Browning BL-22 rifle to compete in this little contest dealy here... I spent most of the day yesterday taking it a part, cleaning it... that bit was easy. Reassembly is the tricky part because of how the ejector is designed. Anyway, before I reassembled I went to my back storage room to fetch a special pair of small needle nose pliers. There's a bad step near the bottom of the storage room, and I mis-stepped on it, slipped, and kinda fell. I caught myself with my right hand a little oddly. It hurt a bit but wasn't too bad. I thought nothing of it until about ten minutes later upon trying to reassemble the gun. I barely was able to hold that extractor down cause my wrist had started to swell and hurt. It took me many tries and I had almost given up hope that I'd be able to do it with my injured hand. Then, by some miracle, I managed to align it with the moon and stars and get it back together. And today my wrist is killing me and I had to put a brace on it. I can barely even lift my phone let alone my guns. So looks like I'll likely have to sit this one out until my gun hand heals. But when I am ready, gun is running better than ever! First strip and cleaning it's ever had since 1975. My grandpa never cleaned guns, and this used to be his years back. It's a pita to deal with, but I finally got it finished! And it only cost me one hand!
Anyway, see you all in a week (I hope), and happy shooting all!
Well, okay, maybe less than a week. Hand feels a lot better today after I doctored it a bit. Actually can lift a gallon of milk now, so I guess it's not fractured. Actually went and shot my .22s a bit this morning. Feels great, I haven't done any shooting in a while due to school. Unfortunately, neither of my .22s can hit the broad side of a barn. Sigh. Least they operate flawlessly.

Took more shots than usual to get these results - the Weaver 3-9 is a weak link. It goes a bit blurry when maxed out at 9X and paralax is an issue if you are not dead straight on the scope. Probably a change coming!
I think your target in post #11 is mislabeled.
50 yards 3 shots and I see 5 holes.
Anyway....

This is the 4th target I shot, everything nice and warm. 80° and Sunny, RH 50%.
Shooting a bit high, but the scope is touchy on elevation, so I didn't adjust it.

Way to group dugger1!! Also a couple of good 'shootouts' in there and not a bad target anywhere to be seen!
I'll get the May event up ASAP and hope to see you there!
