    Aguila or Centurion MiniShells

Anyone used these? They are 1 3/4"(aguila) and 2"(centurion) and come in #4, 7 1/2, 00, and slugs. It's high brass, low recoil and standard velocity.

You can get boxes of 10 for around $6 or boxes of 25 for around $10-12 bucks...

I like the concept. I can fit 9 of the 1 3/4" shells in my Norinco(870 clone). They don't eject all that well, but I hear they function well in winchester 1300s.

    Here's a pic of an aguila #7 1/2 shot 1 3/4" round next to a 2 3/4"...

Filepe, I have a couple of boxes (20 to the box in the sabot slugs). They work ok thru my old S & W pump, and are supposed to work in the Winchester pumps (1200's maybe), as well as the old 1897 style pumps. They would also work well in break opens. since the slugs are non rifled, they would need to be counted on at close range. They are very low recoil. They are kind of gimmicky, maybe the bird shot would have more pratical use for shooting pidgeons up close. I really don't know why I'd use the slugs other than in a house, they wouldn't have as much wall penetration as a 1 oz slug. The box does not give the weight of the slugs. I did cut one open one time, and while I didn't weigh it, I seem to remember it being 5/8 oz. I think my regualar tube hold 4 2 3/4 " and would hold 6 of these.

With all the low recoil ammo out there the only advantage I see is mag capacity, but if reliability is removed, that's not an advantage either. I bet they'd work better in a 2 3/4 only receiver with a shorter action.

You just need to ry a box in your pump and see how they work. They aren't quite as smooth feeding, and I kind of had to work the action a little differently, but I decided to just stay with the 2 3/4 for defensive shotgun ammo, partialy because I decided against the model 97 Winchester clone and got a Saiga 12 which is a magazine feed high cap. semi. I have some 3" rounds, but after shooting a few mags of 12 gauge bird shot for grins, I found the 2 3/4 had as much recoil as I wanted. I have a couple of pump 12s also. I found the 1 7/8 ounce Turkey loads way heavy on recoil also, like shooting a cannon. With a 12, I'd just stay with 2 3/4 all the way, at least for defensive rounds.

they were made for a specific shotgun that never really sold well, they were advertised in shotgun news, and they had a detachable box magazine.

I recall hearing that they don't feed worth a hoot in some designs of pump shotguns. I specifically remember that they didn't work well in Mossberg guns as that's what I had/have.
