"If the federal government could control anything, I could probably listen to that gibberish, but when they do such a horrible job in controlling spending, borrowing, controlling illegal drugs and illegal aliens coming into this country while they give AK-47s to Mexican drug lords through Fast and Furious, I don’t see much hope in them even beginning to control guns."
The problems we face today are there because the people who work for a living are out numbered by the people that vote for a living

I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.
Ruger SR9C and scored 248 of 250. At 15 yards, I dropped the first shot a little low, but that was BEFORE I went for my annual eye exam and found out I had detached retinas in BOTH eyes.

a.k.a. 2LOGICL. While I do not enjoy the misery of others, I do find comfort in it.
At the time I took the test, I didn't have a centerfire auto to use. I didn't want to use a revolver for the reason you state. I took my class at an indoor range that had rentals. I picked a stainless Springfield 1911 Trophy Match in 9mm from their rental fleet. I was familiar with the 1911 from days past, it was single action only, and it was a 9mm so recoil was negligible. Since they require you buy their ammo for the rental guns, it was even cheaper. Since the Texas test is not exactly challenging, it was easy even though I was shooting a gun I never fired before and I had not practiced the course of fire.
As a side note, even though there were mostly pretty inexperienced shooters in my class nobody failed. The Texas test is pretty easy.

Doesn't really matter here in FL. I carried in AL for several years before moving down here, so when the time came to take the class I used my EDC. I shot the course with my PT1911 and carried on the range in my IWB holster I had used for years prior.
This is the land of opportunity not entitlement
I still think I will renew with either my S&W 1911 E-series .45 or the PT1911AL. The Texas range test is not a difficult test, but I figure it won't hurt not to have to deal with the SA/DA first round fire and having a longer barrel than shorter.
If you have a difficult job to do....Give it to a lazy man......He will find the easy way to do it.
A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.
