My wife did at first but no longer. She had never been around firearms at all growing up
I was just wondering if any of your spouses feel this way. My wife grew up in a small town where there was not much crime. I grew up in the city of Pittsburgh and do not trust anyone. My Father was a police officer and has instilled this "feeling" inside me. I feel weird when I carry as she looks at me like "Why do you have a gun?" I feel like it is better to have and not need, than to need and not have. Your thoughts...

Last weekend we went to our friends lake house in the Missouri Ozarks. 20 or so people showed up. One of the family members in attendance was a Sheriff's deputy. He was packing. I asked him "why?" "Do you think you're going to need that gun here?". I think he put it away because I never saw it again.
I think it depends on where/when you carry as to whether its "weird". If you feel you need a gun at a family gathering you may be a bit weird.
X2... see, im new here, the town im in has a higher crime rate. Plus, we have a 2 month old. Its a trust thing, im 21. my temper has dropped 100%, it helped me grow up. i carry a pt111. all day, not to the store, but espiciaaly closer to atl we get.(we live in mcdonough). just my 2 cents, when i stopped carrying when i had my sw9ve for a week or so, we both felt, well// "unusual", i guess. its a personal thing for my family. after the apmnt we lived in in alabama got broken into several times, is when i started, they were veryyyyyyyyyyy high end military apartments. like i said. i believe in it, who says the next "zombie" event that happened in miami, wont happen at the petsmart, or, jcpennys..
Thanks, Jeremy.
Never heard of Home Invasion ,, Guess not !! I would be suprised if he put it away.. Are you one of the few who keeps his spare tire in the shed?? Only to be placed in the trunk of the car when you feel a need may arise ?? You must have "Triple A"
"Does your spouse think you are "weird/paranoid" for carrying"
`Mine would think Im weird if I didnt....she knows Life can have "special" surprises for any of us...anywhere....any place...anytime...Its just the way things are.."
Wish I knew the source for this one, but it pretty much explains the reason to carry.
The old sheriff was attending an awards dinner when a lady commented on his
wearing his sidearm. 'Sheriff, I see you have your pistol. Are you expecting
trouble?' 'No ma'am. If I were expecting trouble, I would have brought my
rifle.'
“Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither
inclined nor determined to commit crimes... Such laws make things worse for the
assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to
prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence
than an armed man.”- Thomas Jefferson.

My wife doesn't understand the need for carrying. She grew up around guns and isn't opposed to them being in the house, just not tucked in my pants. I tell her what some of you have already said...and that's "I'd rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it!" maybe one day she'll come around...
A gun, A hanky, A knife......Thing's a guy can use! I don't see a problem with it! That's how I grew up.
